Product Review: OxiClean Multi-purpose Stain Remover

Grout Cleaner, Oxiclean

I have been using OxiClean on a regular basis since the beginning of 2002. I started by purchasing it because of the television infomercial and was delighted when retailers like Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club started selling it cheaper. I still buy in bulk and purchase the 96 oz. bucket.

I add a scoop of OxiClean to my washing machine when the water goes in and before putting the clothes into the machine. It really does improve the look of my husband’s tee shirts. They tend to look old and fade and sometimes get staining under the arms. By using OxiClean they last longer and look newer. I find that OxiClean doesn’t get stains out of the laundry and use Shout triple-acting stain remover for that job.

I have tried so many products on the grout between the tiles in my shower. OxiClean seems to do a better job that most. I mix several scoops of OxiClean with warm to hot water so it is like a gritty paste. I put my rubber gloves on and apply it to the grimed in areas.

After an hour or two I go back with a toothbrush and water and it is just amazing how the grout comes up. I have to say if the grouting is really bad it may take several attempts to get it clean. I now use OxiClean once a month on my shower and am pleased with the result.

This product is great for so many problems. I used to purchase a product when I had my cats and they would pee on the carpet. They were 19 and a half and 15 years old when they passed away. When I finished the Pet stain one I went back to my OxiClean and am still using it for minor spillages on the carpet. I really dilute it and put it in a spray bottle and it saves me buying yet another product.

I have now used it continually for 5 years and still forget some of its uses. It can also be used for cleaning sports equipment, drains, disposers, toys, dolls, fencing and siding. OxiClean suggests using it as a soaking agent for laundry, aquariums, trash cans, fruit juicers, coffee makers, fiberglass boats, sleeping bags, tents, and athletic jerseys.

What does OxiClean say about its product?

On the front of the tub it states that it is a Stain Specialist. It is for clothes, carpets, and more. Chlorine free. Removes stains from wine, juice, pet messes & much more.

It also gives a caution.
Harmful if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Eye and skin irritant. See back panel for precautions.

This caution is on a blue background, with bubbles, and a pale white wording. It is difficult to read.

On the back it has a complete guide on how to use this product, with amounts for each household chore.

Under ‘Usage Guidelines’ note:
Always test for colorfastness by applying OxiClean to an inconspicuous area and allow it to dry.
