Product Review: Home Planetariums

Constellations, Planetarium

There has long been an obsession revolving around the vast sea of stars above us and the question of whether or not there are other planets and inhabitants like earth out there somewhere. People have been charting stars and asteroids for centuries and technology is only getting better with every passing year. Planetariums are a wonderful thing, a person can go and learn about many constellations and learn about stars that they had never before heard of all in one visit. But for some their home is just an easier and more convenient way to enjoy the science and mystery behind this passion and thirst for knowledge.

If you are one of these people who would enjoy interactive planetariums in the comfort of your own home, then this article can point you in the right direction. Introducing, the “Star Theater 2”.

Review of Home Planetariums: What is Involved with The Star Theater 2?

Home planetariums usually come with some assembly required but this planetarium kit comes with only a few items. One, the sphere and the stand, which is incidentally together but is removable so that you can pop in the batteries. Secondly, a book which explains everything you need to know in order to operate the home planetarium. There is also, in this handy home planetarium booklet, wonderful information on the planets, comets and constellations that may be of some interest. And finally, the last thing included is a 45 minute interactive audio tour that explains so much and provides a load of cool info on the product capabilities and the universe above.

The only real assembly is the fact that you need to put in batteries… other than that it is so easy and comprehensive that one wouldn’t need a manual or diagram to put it together.

Review of Home Planetariums: What Can This Product Do?

Besides just showing you the night sky at an even larger and brighter magnitude home planetariums, like this one, can deliver the user the ability to project meteors so they can see them up close and personal. Not to mention, this specific home planetarium shows different constellations that shine in the dark abyss beyond and in what time of year you can find them. If this isn’t cool enough, the science aspect really goes to work while you get to learn the ranking of each of the brightest stars, the constellation they are found in and yes, even the hemisphere.

Review of Home Planetariums: Conclusion

All in all my review on this planetarium is in the “10”. It has, scientifically, everything needed to learn more (and I do mean more no matter what your prior knowledge holds as of now) and it is also so very comprehensive to start and begin interacting that 9 year olds can do it by simply following well written and laid out directions. Because there is not much for the customer to do there is much more time to spend enjoying this home planetarium system.

One thing is for sure, you will come out of this planetarium experience learning much more than you did going in. There are so many things to be taught when it comes to our solar system and this home planetarium beats the other home planetariums that I have seen and tried over the years. It definitely has my approval as a mom and a teacher!!!!
