Product Review: Haute Pockets Cloth Diapers

Pocket Diapers

I’ll admit it: I love cloth diapering my children. With a toddler and a newborn, you would think I would despise the laundering, but I truly don’t mind it! One product that has made my job much easier has been the Haute Pocket cloth diaper.

The first thing I love about the Haute Pocket would have to be that it is a one-size diaper. That means that it fits my newborn and it fits my toddler! How do they do it? There are snaps that you can use to adjust the rise of the diaper. You simply snap them together to shorten the rise for a smaller baby or leave them unsnapped for a larger baby or toddler. Additionally, you can choose a version with Velcro or one with snap closures around the waist to easily adjust the waist size to fit your baby. These diapers fit a child from 8-35 pounds. At around $17 a diaper, this is an extremely economical diaper that will grow with your baby and could also be used among multiple children in diapers!

Furthermore, these diapers are dad and babysitter friendly! While the snaps may be a bit more confusing, certainly the Velcro option is most like a disposable diaper in terms of ease of use. My husband has had no difficulties using this diaper on either of our children, nor has my mother when watching the kids. I’ve gotten the most compliments from my husband when I leave him with the “easy” diapers, as he calls them, when I go out to run errands. My mother didn’t believe me when I told her I had found a diaper that would fit either child, but she’s a believer now! After using the Haute Pocket, she told me that cloth diapers have certainly come a long way since I was an infant, and she’s right!

The fit of these diapers is both a pro and a con to me. For my newborn, the Haute Pocket is somewhat bulky, especially under clothes such as onesies. This was slightly disappointing to me at first as I had ordered the diapers after hearing how trim they were. However, compared to many other cloth diapers that we own, the Haute Pocket is still a bit trimmer. On my toddler, the Haute Pocket is very trim and fits her well. Both of my children have large thighs and, unlike many other cloth diapers we have tried, I have never had a single problem with the fit around the thighs and they never had any red marks around that area after wearing the diapers.

Finally, I’d like to say that looks aren’t everything! How the diaper works is of the utmost importance when choosing a diaper. I have found that the Haute Pockets are wonderful for overnight use. When stuffed with an extra microfiber towel at night, in addition to the pocket insert that is sold with the Haute Pocket, the baby wakes up completely dry in the morning! Both of my children have tested this diaper out for me and it holds true for my heavy-wetting infant and my moderate-wetting toddler. The microfleece lining in the inside wicks the moisture away quickly, the pocket insert in the middle soaks in all of their urine, and the PUL outer layer waterproofs extremely well. I have been very pleased with the actual performance of this diaper!

I love Haute Pocket diapers. Besides the slight bulkiness on my newborn, I cannot find anything to complain about! They are a great value, are easy to use, are fairly trim, and work extremely well. I give a very high recommendation to this diaper.
