Power Forward (PF) Rookies – Top 3

Kenneth Faried – Den – pf

At just 6′-8″ Faried was easily considered to be college basketball’s best rebounder last season. Bringing pure hustle and heart to the court as an excellent defender, Faried is nearly every NBA coaches dream. After racking up 14.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 1.9 steals, and 17.3 points per game last season as a senior in college, Faried is poised to make an immediate contribution for the Nuggets as a rookie during the 2011-2012 season.

2010-2011 College Stats: 62.3 fg% — 17.3 ppg — 0.0 3pt — 14.5 reb — 1.1 ast — 1.9 stl — 2.3 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 50 fg% — 10.0 ppg — 0.0 3pt — 9.0 reb — 1.0 ast — 1.5 stl — 1.5 blk

Tristan Thompson – Cle – pf

The #4 overall pick in the NBA draft this season, Thompson is a young 20 year old with just one season of college basketball experience under his belt. So with this in mind, Thompson is very unlikely to be pushed into major playing time to begin the 2011-2012 season. However with the Cavaliers in rebuilding mode, Thompson should have a clear path to playing time at either PF or SF whenever he shows that he is ready to contribute. A mid-season impact from Thompson is the most likely bet to expect from him during his rookie campaign.

2010-2011 College Stats: 54.6 fg% — 13.1 ppg — 0.0 3pt — 7.8 reb — 1.3 ast — 0.9 stl — 2.4 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 45 fg% — 8.0 ppg — 0.0 3pt — 4.5 reb — 1.0 ast — 0.7 stl — 1.5 blk

Markieff Morris – Pho – pf

An experienced three year college player, Morris is a versatile forward who at 6′-10″ can bring solid rebounding as well as a nice shooting touch and midrange jumper to the Phoenix Suns lineup. Unfortunately a significant amount of minutes are not available for Morris based on the Suns current starting lineup to begin the season, but if injuries or trades open up some playing time for Morris, he easily has the ability and potential to become an immediate factor in the Suns lineup.

2010-2011 College Stats: 58.9 fg% — 13.6 ppg — 0.7 3pt — 8.3 reb — 1.4 ast — 0.8 stl — 1.1 blk

2011-2012 Projected Stats: 47 fg% — 6.0 ppg — 0.4 3pt — 4.0 reb — 1.0 ast — 0.5 stl — 0.5 blk
