Porcelain Light Fixtures from Rejuvenation Lighting & House Parts On-line

Craftsmanship

I am an old house person and when it came time to outfit our cabin with reproduction fixtures, I turned to Rejuvenation Lighting & House Parts.

I first learned about Rejuvenation through the Old House Journal, which is THE premier old house restoration magazine. From the advertisements, I could see that Rejuvenation carried a product line unlike anything currently on the market. From Craftsman to Victorian, Art Deco, Pop Atomic and more, the company carried reproduction light fixtures and house parts that were every bit as attractive as their antique counterparts. I ordered a catalogue and was instantly impressed with the layout. Not only was the catalogue laid out in an easy to read format, there was lots of useful information to help guide our selection. I enjoyed how the beginning of each section described the characteristics of certain architectural periods.

For our cabin guest bathroom, I ordered a reproduction Art Deco style Porcelain bathroom fixture, called the “Rufus” through their website. Even though the hard copy catalogue listed only one color option, we discovered a second color option was available when toggling the items specifications.

The web site is very intuitive; there’s link on the right that allows you to order a catalogue which I highly recommend. The online product photographs are bright and clear, and each item comes with detailed specifications and color options. I discovered it was very easy to place the items in the shopping cart, and then to proceed on through the checkout process. I received a confirmation e-mail almost immediately, and another one when my order was shipped. My fixture arrived a couple of days later and was extremely well packaged using enviro-friendly (and 100% recyclable) materials.

I was very pleased with the quality of the light fixture. The porcelain base was very solid and had a fair amount of heft. The shade was equally as sturdy and made of a nice, thick glass that had been molded with care. There were no flaws, nor bumps and the whole fixture had the look and feeling of a period piece that was crafted to last a lifetime. Having looked hundreds of light fixtures in my life, this fixture ranked up there as one of the best I had ever seen in terms of both quality, craftsmanship and value.

Rejuvenation is a privately owned business that still manufactures their products in Portland, Oregon. The staff is helpful and their operators pleasant. For contractors, Rejuvenation does offer a trade discount upon presentation of your business license. Beyond the helpful customer service and the quality craftsmanship, Rejuvenation also prides itself on being a good neighbor. The plant became “Carbon Neutral” in 2007, and according to owner Jim Kelly, are “voluntarily financing projects that will negate the greenhouse-gas impact of our operations.” Additionally, Rejuvenation gives back 5% of their pretax profits back into the community to support housing, historic preservation, arts and the environment.

Their dedication to the community and the quality of their product impresses me; I’ll definitely be back.
