Police Update – Crimes in Royal Oak, Michigan
Lt. Gordon Young of the Royal Oak Police Department reports crimes for the week of September 17th through September 24, 2010.

Summary: One auto theft on 9/23. A blue 1984 Oldsmobile is stolen from his driveway. Nine complaints of burglary. 9/19 – A booted in apartment door and a missing wallet and prescriptions. 9/17 – A break-in through the back door and a laptop, computer and jewelry were stolen. 9/22 – Someone tried to pry their rear door open. 9/21 – Someone enters through the bathroom window while the homeowner was sleeping and steals a wallet and checkbook. 9/20 – A laptop is stolen from their apartment. 9/21 – Someone attempted to pry their rear door open. 9/22 – Another laptop is stolen. 9/22 – Someone broke into their business and stole some money. 9/22 – Another break-in to their business and more money stolen. Six complaints of larceny from auto. 9/19 – Smashed out car windows and GPS stolen. 9/19 – Another smashed window and another stolen GPS. 9/18 – another smashed car window and a stolen purse. 9/21 – Someone stole two i-pods and a car CD player from an unlocked car. 9/23 – Someone unlocked a car and stole a 43rd District Court badge. 9/23 – Witnesses report watching three suspicious males looking in vehicles with flashlights. Two suspect were on foot and one on a bike. They left behind a toolbox that was found out to have been stolen from a pickup truck. Five complaints of larceny. 9/19 – A woman was arrested fro stealing groceries from Meijer’s. 9/21 – Two males arrested for stilling manhole rims. 9/22 – A suspect was arrested for retail fraud having taken a civil war figurine. 9/23 – Someone broke into a secure locker at Fitness USA and took money from a wallet. 9/23 – A utility trailer was stolen and it had a John Deer lawn mower on it. Suspect is a white male in his 40’s.

My thoughts. Whew. So what if you don’t lock your car, it sounds like they just smash your windows out any way. Don’t leave a laptop unattended anyway and don’t leave your checkbook, GPS, or money around either! Hopefully some of the arrest this week will stop some of these types of crimes occurring in the future.
