Planning a Transformers Theme Birthday Party

Autobots, Transformer Toys, Transformers

“Transformers! Robots in disguise.” Since the early 1980’s those words have rang true in the hearts of young boys and girls. Now, with the release of the blockbuster movie and pending sequel, Transformers has become tremendously popular. Imagine the joy your child could have with a Transformers Themed Birthday Party.

A Transformers Themed Birthday Party is easier than you think. Now that Transformers are everywhere, there is plenty of ready-made store-bought merchandise for you to purchase in order to have a party. However, with a bit of imagination, some research, and this planning guide, you can have a party that the neither the Autobots nor the Decepticons will soon forget.

Invitations
Invitations are where the magic starts. You can purchase a pre-made invitations, but homemade ones will do just as well. In order to make Transformers invitations, do an internet search for Transformers images and clipart. Make sure to bookmark this search, you will need it later. Find the shield crest of the both the Autobots and the Decepticons. These two forces are at war, and the invitation should reflect that. Copy and paste the two shield crests into your word processing software. The outside of the card should be Autobots, and the inside should be decepticon. Add your party information and print them out.

Design Your World
The Transformers live in a world that is metal and steel brought to life. At a local party supply store, purchase metal streamers, metallic crepe paper, and silver or gold wrapping paper (if you can’t find any, tin foil will work). Hang the streamers at the entrance to the party. With the crepe paper, create random connections from floor to ceiling to represent steel beams. Find several boxes of various sizes and wrap them with the wrapping paper and stack them around the party room. Also, if you have framed art on the wall, wrap those with the silver paper also – they will look like metal starship plates. The metallic look and feel of the room will set the mood for a futuristic Transformer party.

Food
What do Transformers eat? Energon of course. To create energon, you should make gelatin cubes with various fruits mixed in. Energon comes in cubes, so your gelatin should be cubed shaped. Also, custom made or store bought pizzas that are square in shape, and then cut into squares are a must. Your cake can either be custom made or store bought. Transformers Themed Birthdays allow you to make any vehicle shaped cake and decorate like its Transformers match. With your cake, serve ice cream that has been packed into ice trays to make cubes

Activities
It will take a bit of imagination and excitement to keep all of your Transformers busy. Try the following activities to keep you Transformers Themed Birthday Party moving like a machine.

• Autobot Vs. Decepticon Scavenger Hunt. Set the scene: The Spark is missing. The first Transformer team to retrieve the spark wins. Hide a small wrapped cube somewhere in the house.

Print more of the Transformers shields from earlier. Divide the children into two groups. Make half of the Decepticons and half of them Autobots. They should tape the appropriate shield to their chest.

On small Transformer shields, put clues that are Transformer themed. For example, Fridgicon thought he was cool when he hid the next clue inside of himself when he saw the Decepticons coming (this would lead the children to the fridge of course).

The kids keep searching for clues until they find where you have hid The Spark.

• Transformer Match. Using the same internet search from earlier, print out popular Transformers characters in robot form and the corresponding object or vehicle they transform into.

Lay out the matching pairs on a table and mix them up. Have the children take turns matching the vehicle to the robot. The person with the most matches wins.

• Pin the Spark on Optimus. Print out or draw a large Optimus Prime. Also print out the multiple cubes from Transformers the Movie that represents the spark. The spark is supposed to go in Optimus Prime’s chest.

Follow the rules for “Pin the Tail on the Donkey”, but pin the spark on Optimus.

• Movie Time. When the party is winding down, finish things out with either Transformers the Animated Series or Transformers the Movie.

Transformers the Movie and Transformers the Animated Series are both very popular, and would make an excellent theme for a birthday party. Although, you could through a store-bought party, a homemade experience will be cheaper, more exciting, and more memorable. With enough ingenuity and energon, your party can be one that your child will never forget.
