Pizza Recipe: Veggie Pizza with No Sauce

Canola Oil, Veggie Pizza

We make pizza at home at least once a month. With a family of 5, you can imagine how many pizza variations we make depending on each person’s taste. The following is how I make my signature pizza, especially for me.

I don’t care for sauce in my pizza recipe. To make my veggie pizza with no sauce, you will need the following ingredients:

-pouch of pizza crust mix

-canola oil spray

-1/2 stick of margarine (¼ cup)

-garlic powder

-Italian seasoning

-3/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese

-1 tomato, sliced very thinly

-1 onion, sliced very thinly

-1 bell pepper (any color), sliced very thinly

-jar of banana peppers

-small can of sliced black olives

-can of chunk pineapple

Supplies you will need in the preparation and making of my veggie pizza with no sauce:

-colander

-pizza pan or cookie sheet

-medium bowl and towel to cover

-small saucepan

-basting brush

-fork

Directions for preparing and making my veggie pizza with no sauce:

1) Open the can of pineapple chunks and drain well. Pour pineapple chunks into colander and let drain while preparing other ingredients.

2) Preheat oven according to directions on pizza crust mix.

3) Prepare pizza crust mix according to package directions. Spray ball of pizza dough with canola oil spray, cover bowl of pizza dough with towel and set in a warm place to rise.

4) Melt ½ stick (¼ cup) of margarine in small saucepan with about 1 teaspoon of each of the garlic powder and the Italian seasoning.

5) Spray pizza pan or cookie sheet with canola oil spray. Spread pizza crust dough to desired size and shape. I prefer my crust a little thicker, so I leave about 2″ space from the edges of a round pizza pan.

6) Use the basting brush to spread the seasoned margarine all over the pizza crust. You want to use the entire amount of margarine and seasonings in the pan. This will prevent the crust from drying out too much for lack of pizza sauce. Spread shredded mozzarella cheese over top the entire crust.

7) Carefully arrange tomato slices across top of pizza, being sure not to overlap. You can put these underneath the cheese layer if desired. Spread the sliced onion and bell pepper all over the top of the pizza.

8) Using a fork, carefully remove enough banana peppers from the jar to space around the pizza. Be sure to gently shake the liquid off of each slice of banana pepper before putting on pizza. Open and drain the black olives. Toss the sliced black olives across the top of the pizza.

9) Now it’s time to add the pineapple chunks. I use about ½ the can. Carefully arrange the pineapple chunks around the top of the pizza.

10) Spray canola oil spray across the top of the pizza. Begin with the cooking time given on the pizza crust package, however, you may need 5-8 more minutes due to the amount of toppings on this pizza.

When crust and toppings are beginning to brown and cheese is melted in center of pizza, your veggie pizza with no sauce is ready to enjoy! Just be careful, it can get pretty messy while you’re eating it.
