How to Turn a Photo into the Shape of a Leaf in Photoshop for Beginners

Open Photoshop
Open Photoshop and let it load. Click File > New to create a new canvas. Create your canvas about 400 pixels by 400 pixels. Set the background to white and click OK.

Create New Layer
Create a new layer. If you do not see your Layers Panel then press F7 on your keyboard. Click on the icon in the bottom of the Layers Panel that looks like a sheet of paper with the corner curled up. That will create a new layer.

Custom Shape Tool
Click on your Shape Tool in your toolbar and hold it down until the menu pops up. Then select the Custom Tool. At the top of your Photoshop window you will see Shape and a box that drops down. Drop down the box and select the Leaf Shape. Now draw your Leaf on your canvas. Draw your Leaf kind of big. You can size it down at the end if you want too.

Click on the Rectangle Marquee Tool in your toolbar. Using the Marquee Tool, draw around the edge of your Photo.

Copy Photo
Go to the top of your Photoshop window and click Edit > Copy.

Load Selection and Paste Into
Now click on your other window with the Leaf. Then click Select > Load Selection at the top of your Photoshop window. Then click Edit > Paste Into.

Now your Photo will appear inside your Leaf. You can use the move tool in your toolbar to move the photo around inside the Leaf.

You can also add a drop shadow and stroke to your Leaf by right clicking on the top layer and selecting blending options.
