“Pawn Stars” Old Man Turns 70 in Style

Pawn Stars

Last night “Pawn Stars” featured a History Channel Crossover episode with “American Pickers” and “American Restoration” in the mix. Rick Harrison wanted a very special gift for “The Old Man” on the day he turned seventy years old. He had the “American Pickers,” Mike and Frank, find a vintage 1957 Chevrolet 150—–the “Old Man’s” favorite vintage car.

Of course, the car was almost a skeleton: it was in horrible shape. So Rick had it delivered to Rick Dale at “American Restoration.” Rick Dale took a good look and told Rick H. that it would take him seven months to complete a restoration of this car. The birthday was in three months. Somehow, it was agreed that the job would be done in three months. Rick D. pulled all of his people to the project, and also called for extra help from Danny “The Count” Koker.

Meanwhile, the regular business of the pawn shop progressed. When Rick H. visited the garage three days before the big birthday, the car was still in pieces. Rick D. and Danny assured him that it would be done for the party.

Chumlee and Corey were given the task of planning the birthday celebration(yikes). At first they wanted to do a huge party, but Rick H. told them to tone it down and put together a small gathering.

The day finally arrived, and Rick took his father out to lunch. After eating, he asked his father to stop at the garage with him to pick something up. The “Old Man’s” friends, circled around the car, shouted “surprise!” They truly pulled this one off. The “Old Man” didn’t even want any cake or small talk, he donned his hat and took off in the car. The restoration job was incredible. The “Old Man” was actually smiling. It took three months of painstaking work by a crew of people, but Rick Harrison got his father to smile on his big birthday. I can’t wait to see what he has to do for number seventy-five!
