Pasta Express: As Seen on TV Product Review

Kielbasa, Small Kitchens

What is the Pasta Express?

Past Express is a unique cooking tool that allows you to cook things that you would normally boil without having to use continuous heat from your stove. To use this product you simply put your food into the plastic tubes, pour in boiling water, snap on the strainer and lid and allow it to cook. After you have allowed your food to cook in the tube for the right amount of time you can remove the lid and use the built in strainer to remove the excess water from the tube. Then simply dump the food out of the tube onto a serving plate. This product usually offers 2 cooking tubes (1 large tube and 1 smaller tube) and a recipe booklet. The recipe booklet contains cooking instructions for: fresh green beans, fresh broccoli, fresh asparagus, cauliflower, petite peas, baby carrots, angel hair past, spaghetti, whole wheat spaghetti, multi-grain spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, fusilli, tricolor fiori, gemelli, pipette, small rigatoni, mini penne, medium shells, cavatelli, gnocchi, al dente brand orzo, cheese tortellini, cheese ravioli, shrimp, hot dogs, kielbasa and knockwurst.

Pros of the Pasta Express

When I first bought pasta express I thought that it would be a good product to take with me on a camping trip into the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Before I headed out into the back country I decided to put my Pasta Express through a trial run with several different foods. I started out with angel hair pasta and macaroni. To my surprise this product cooked the pasta just like the product claimed it would. I also tried cooking hotdogs and instant rice. The Pasta Express performed exquisitely. The only thing you need to remember when cooking foods that won’t be strained (like instant rice) is that you will need to add a little more water then the product recommends.

There are several pros of the Pasta Express Cooker. First it is light weight and easy to transport. This makes it a great choice for camping and small kitchens. Secondly it is affordable. You can pick up this item for under $20 and in some cases you can find it for under $16. The third advantage of the Pasta Express Cooker is that you don’t have to watch a boiling pot. Simply follow the cooking instructions provided in the Pasta Express Cooker.

Cons of the Pasta Express

While the Pasta Express is a great product it does have a couple of drawbacks. First the cook time for things like hot dogs, kielbasa and knockwurst are much longer in the Pasta Express then they would be if you just popped the items into the microwave. The second disadvantage of the Past Express is that the tubes are small. If you are cooking for more than three people then you will need several Pasta Express tubes, or you will need to cook several batches of pasta. The third drawback is that the tubes can crack or break if you accidentally drop it.
