This is a review for Origins Modern Friction facial scrub, a product that has worked wonders on my easily scarred skin. Since high school I have suffered from uneven skin tone on my face. The initial culprit was acne scarring and later on it was acne scares combined with hyper pigmentation or pregnancy mask. My uneven skin tone was very pronounced being darker on my cheeks, lower face and around the nose. Last year I noticed the clear skin of a friend and when asked she told me about Origins Modern Friction.
Modern Friction is labeled as “Nature’s gentle dermabrasion” by the Origins Company. Origins Modern Friction is a slightly sticky, off white, paste that you use on dry, clean skin. The product uses rice starch as a way to remove sluggish skin cells and even out the skin tone. To use Origins Modern Friction first clean and dry your face, take a little of the Modern Friction paste about a finger tips worth and spread it evenly over your face, avoiding the eye area and mouth. Massage Modern Frictions over your skin for a minute or so, add water to turn the Modern Friction paste into lather, massage some more then rinse. Make sure you rinse well, very well and keep your eyes shut tight. Modern Friction will burn if it gets into your eye. Origins suggest that you use Modern Friction 2 to 3 times a week. If you have very sensitive skin you may want to use Modern Friction only once a week until your skin becomes acclimated to the product. The Modern Friction product has a clean, fresh scent that does not linger once cleaned off the face.
I have been using Origins Modern Friction for about a year and on my second jar and I love it. For the first 6 months I used Origins Modern Friction with the Origins Modern Fusion serum; for the first 3 weeks I used it every 2 days then switched to twice a week. After the first 6 months I started using an Alpha Hydroxy face cream nightly but kept using the Origins Modern Friction, I will write more about this combination in a later post.
The results have been fantastic, not perfect but far better then anything I have every tried before. I have used bleaching creams such as Ambi and Black Opal for years on my acne scars, and have never been as satisfied as I am with the Origins Modern Friction scrub. Results were noticeable after the first week of use. At a gathering, a couple friends commented on how nice my make up was and wanted to know what foundation I was using. Guess what? I wasn’t wearing any makeup. It was the best compliment ever, my skin was noticeable smoother, clearer and best of all the tone was a lot more even and I had only used Origins Modern Friction about 4 times.
At this time I have been using Origins Modern Friction for about a year. The results are great, maybe not perfect but something to sing and write about. As my skin has improved so has my confidence. My face is not flawless by any means but I no longer feel like a spotted leopard and I am a lot more comfortable socializing and meeting new people.
