NBC’s Journeyman Canceled?

Cancelled Shows, Journeyman, Rice a Roni

NBC’s Journeyman Canceled? According to Broadcasting and Cable, the deadline for NBC to pick up a full season of the show Journeyman has come and gone, and NBC has not chosen to order more episodes.

This may come as a shock to many of the faithful Journeyman viewers, but the show has been doing poorly since its introduction to the Monday night television lineup and has suffered without its Heroes lead-in, losing 40% of its viewers since Heroes went on hiatus.

While Journeyman’s ratings troubles since Heroes went off the air could be attributed to the yearly December slowdown in television viewing or even the writer’s strike, NBC does not seem likely to give Journeyman another shot.

The show has not been officially cancelled and it is still possible the show could get picked up for a second season, especially if the writer’s strike last through next spring, when new TV pilots are written. If no new TV pilots can be submitted, than shows like Journeyman can get second lives to fill the air waves.

While the show may be nearing its end, Journeyman fans should not be too disappointed, at least they will get to see the final 2 episodes of the show, a fate which many other cancelled shows do not see.

The show will explain Dan Vasser’s time travel abilities and why he has been going back in time to save certain people. It is said that these people are part of a larger plan and at least the viewers will be able to see that plan and get some satisfaction and closure from the show.

Journeyman’s Monday night time slot will be taken over by Life.

Fans of this show have started SaveJourneyman.net, a site that is dedicated o trying to save Journeyman. They are urging fans of this show to send Rice-a-Roni, the San Fransisco Treat, to NBC in order to save their show. A campaign like this, only sending nuts, saved the CBS show Jericho, but did not save the WB show Veronica Mars.
