My Top 5 Getaways for July 4th Weekend

Colonial Williamsburg, Holocaust Museum

The 4th of July is a great holiday to celebrate. On July 4, 1776, the United States won its independence with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It can be a great holiday to do some traveling because it is during the summertime so the weather is often bright and sunny. Here is some information on five great destinations to see on the 4th of July weekend.

Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia

One of the best places to stay in Colonial Williamsburg is the Colonial Houses. According to History.org, people that decide to stay there can choose to book a tavern room, a house or a suite. The prices start at $149 for tavern rooms and the houses and suites range in price from $239 to $459 per night. The houses are great to live in because they have wood burning fireplaces, canopy beds and are very cozy. It is very fun to be able to live in a place that people lived in centuries ago. The historical relevance is a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. Those that wish to stay at Colonial Houses should call 1-800-447-8679. Reservations can only be made by phone because they do not accept online reservations.

While staying in Colonial Williamsburg you should consider dining at Regency Room, King’s Arm Tavern and Christiana Campbell’s. There are great places to visit that include DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, Bassett Hall and the family home of George Wythe who actually signed the Declaration of Independence.

Washington DC is a great place to be on July 4th because it has so many things for people young and old.
