My Opinion of Epinions.com

Epinions.com, Get Paid to Write

I recently read another article on Associated Content about a site, Epinions.com. As I became curious of another website that I could get paid to write reviews about – I decided to join! The sign up was simple and I got started right away. I started off writing an article about the new printer I just purchased. I then had to go back and add more words just to meet their standards. Right off the bat I was disappointed. I said all the good things about the printer, there was simply nothing left for me to say!

After I finished “bs”ing my way through my first article, I proceeded to write another one on a CD I had purchased. I figured it would be easier to write articles on things I actually liked, because I could find more things to say about the item than I could writing a bad review. For this particular album, there were no other reviews. I figured this would be my chance to write a good review, so other potential buyers would see it and want to buy it as well.

I wrote everything about an album you can, about the vocals, the music its self, the band as a whole. Their unique sound, unique lyrics, so many things I simply cant write about here without rewriting my entire review. After leaving the website, surfing around a bit more and then going to bed. I woke to find that I had received a new email from Epinions.com. It was a comment for my review on my album! It was rude, it was – well not something I expected to get from Epinions! At first I thought it was another member, just another rude person on the website.

When I realized that it was an “advisor”, I was infuriated! I went to my review, because apparently my review of something as simple as an album can be considered “not helpful”. Eight advisors went to my review and said it was “not helpful”! Buying an album isn’t up to the people that already bought it, its in the hands of the potential buyers. The reason why you buy an album is simply because you like the sound of the music. A lot of websites allow you to sample their music and most new albums with have their songs on the radio.

I am not sure why they felt the need to literally gang up on me, but it was very irritating! The comment I had received was worded poorly and after they insulted me they proceeded to welcome me to Epinions.com! After receiving this message, I deleted my account. If a simple review for an album can be so terrible that they tell me to either delete it or stop writing like all of the other people, then what would come if I had written one about a computer?

I think if you want to write a review of any kind or even just write an article, I strongly suggest you stay right here at home on Associated Content!
