My Favorite Recipe: Hot Spicy Spaghetti

Prego

Another cold, wet, snowy day in Northeast, Ohio, and luckily enough I was home from work today, along with all the kids. We had a simple quiet day, went to the grocery store, the dollar store, to the doctors, and went for a short cruise.

As we were out cruising along, we were discussing what to make for dinner. We all decided we would have dads hot and spicy spaghetti. My wife and the kids usually do not like hot spicy food, but when it comes to my spaghetti they all seem to like it. As we have dinner, my oldest likes to guess what spices I added to the mix. He is usually right on, and what he misses, my wife figures out. I try at least once a month to stir up my recipe, for my spaghetti.

Here are the secret ingredients, that I use in my hot spicy spaghetti.

1) 1lb box of spaghetti noodles any brand.
2) 1lb of ground beef, cooked very well and all grease dumped out.
3) 32oz Prego with meat sauce. (any brand is ok, but I prefer Prego it is thicker)
4) 1 tablespoon of black pepper.
5) 1 tablespoon of garlic powder.
6) 1 tablespoon of onion powder.
7) 1 tablespoon of crushed red peppers.
8) 1 tablespoon of parsley.
9) 1 tablespoon of hot sauce. (Tabasco sauce is really good, but to hot for the family)
10) 1 cut up fresh onion.
11) Several cut up fresh mushrooms.

Ok so we have all of are ingredients, it is time to prepare the meal.

The first thing I do is bring the water to a boil for the noodles, while the water is warming to a boil, I begin to cook the meat. I will cook the meat rare, and then dump out the grease into a strainer, and then continue to cook the meat to very well done. After I dump the grease, I begin to put in all the above mentioned ingredients. I like to apply the ingredients, while the meat is still rare, this allows the ingredients to cook into the meat. This gives it an excellent taste.

After, I have applied all the ingredients, and the meat is still cooking, I will put in the fresh onion and mushroom, and cook them right in with the meat.

By the time I am finished cooking the meat, the noodles will have been brought to a boil, and I will drain the noodles, rinse them with cool water, and place them back into the pot at let them sit for about 5 minutes to cool and expand.

While the noodles are cooling, I will mix in the sauce with the meat, and slowly bring the meat and sauce to a boil. Then I will mix the meat and sauce in with the noodles, and I will stir them very thoroughly, before serving for dinner.

If you ever try my recipe out, let me know what you think.

I hope this has been helpful.

Good day to all.
