Mr Clean Anti Bacterial Vs Febreze Antimicrobial Sprays

Antimicrobial, Febreze, Mr Clean

Always fighting the good fight against germs and pet droppings I tried two big name brand products. One , Mr Clean and the other by Febreze. Both had odd ingredient descriptins and many, many warnings when it came to use. I felt I needed to glove, mask and gown just to use these items. Febreze appeared to be the safer of the two and there’s is really no way to find out if germs and microbes actually are tamed by these products.

I have two little dogs. One of them has housebreaking issues. He’s seven years old and I’ve resigned myself to the fact he isn’t going to change his evil ways. Not to give rescue dogs a bad name in any way,all I’ve ever had are rescue dogs, we knew what we were getting in to when we adopted him. He’s fear aggressive and just not totally housebroken, he lived in a car his first year, perhaps thats his problem. Maybe that’s where this stems from.

Either way-I’m constantly fighting odors in my house. It’s an all out war. I have every imaginable spray, plug in and powder, spot remover, carpet cleaner, etc etc.

The latest on my list of “let’s try this” is Febreze Antimicrobial. It contains Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (0.13%) and who knows what as “other ingredients” . Honestly. that’s right off the label, most of the ingredients are “other 99.87%”. Pretty strange huh? Since I’ve tried just about everything .I was willing to try this. It claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria that causes odors. It’s 27.04 fliud ounces. All well and good.

I brought the blue bottle home and began spraying all the couches and carpet areas that Max, my toilet terror had marked. The spraying was a real problem. The cap under the trigger has ridges and after a minute of spraying I had to change hands. It hurt!. The ridges dig into the webbing between my thumb and forefinger. I took a break, did a little more spraying and gave up for the time being. The scent was okay, not overwhelming and actually I need overwhelming to overpower the pee smell. I’ve cleaned all these areas multiple times but on a humid day I notice a faint odor. Drives me nuts. So I try different products.

Mr Clean Antibacterial Multi Surface Orange scent is the competition for Febreze Microbacterial. This product claims to kill germs, cut grease and leave surfaces streak free, an interesting concept.

Active ingredients: Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride and Dimethyl Ethylbenzyl Ammonium Choloride and again “other ingredients 99.90 % “!!! So you have two ingredients that are chemicals that total 0.05% and the rest is a mystery.

This bottle is 32 fl oz and I got it on sale for $1.32 . Mr.Clean, unfortunately ,warns against use around Domestic Animals (and humans!) ,something I didn’t notice until got it home to use to fight my domestic animals terrible bathroom habits. It’s not safe on most washable surfaces, no good for brass or copper, painted surfaces or wall coverings. So,what does this leave? It is effective againt E.Coli and staph resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, Influenza A 2, Hong Kong flu and Athletes foot. Very, very strange, what are you supposed to do to apply this when you have those issues? Apply directly to your body? Despite warnings to aviod contact with clothing.

Ah, another warning don’t breathe the stuff!!! So you have to mask and glove to use it? Remove domestic animals and do not apply to most surfaces. Do not get it on your skin or clothing. This stuff sounds lethal if it hadn’t been so cheap and gas so expensive I would have returned it.

The picture on the label shows kitchens, bathrooms and glass surfaces as places to use Mr Clean. Baffling! I can’t imagine how you go about applying this product when there are so many warnings.

I really cannot recommend this at all.
