Money Making Craft Ideas

Home Crafts, Making Soap, Sell Your Crafts

Many people make a full and part time living from home crafts but there’s many barriers to small home business set ups such as competition and production costs. If your looking for a new craft that you can hopefully turn into something profitable even if its just a money making hobby the first thing you should do is identify your strengths and weaknesses. You must have some kind of interest in what you make and any past experience is invaluable to your success. Investigating and deciding on the best places to sell your crafts is very important, especially when there are fees involved for selling on websites such as eBay. Keeping this in mind next time you walk down your local high street it may be worth inquiring in potential shops to see if they would sell your craft in return for some commission. The following is a list of realistic craft ideas that i came up with while researching money making crafts;

Soap Making
There are kits available that give you the basic ingredients for a basic soap, which you can then add your other herbs to or you could learn the science behind making soap from scratch. Soap making from scratch requires the use of acid which can be dangerous so this would only be recommended for someone who is prepared to do the research first.

Badge Making
You can buy badge making machines and badge blanks so that you can then design your own badge fronts and sell them. Events sometimes require badges made to order in large quantities providing opportunity for sales.

Birthday, christening etc.. Cards
Hand crafted cards are both creative and fun to do. The added bonus to starting card making is that the first cards you make will have some value as you can make them for friends and family saving you money.

Fishing Float Making
There is an old design of float called the Avon Quill Tip float made from crow feathers and balsa wood. These floats are environmentally friendly, look beautiful in the water and are loved by traditional anglers.

Fishing Lure Making
Fishing lures are expensive to buy these days so making your own from dowelling can save you money but also would provide the opportunity to sell them too. The problem with selling them on-line is that people always choose the good names and designs but selling them in local fishing shops may be more effective.

Para-cord Crafts
I stumbled upon this by accident but basically, people in the army have made some pretty cool things out of their para-chord, such as belts, watch straps and bracelets.

Bracelet Making
Bracelet making is a fun hobby that requires little research, but on the other hand if you are looking to make money from this then realize that there is allot of competition and they sell very cheaply on-line.

Lamp Glass Work
This is a craft that you would need to take classes in to learn the technique, but Ive seen some beautiful hand made pendants from glass. Glass Workers also use Dechroic glass to enhance their designs which is the multicolored glass that you sometimes see on jewelery. You would need to buy glass work equipment including a kiln which would be costly.
