Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color: Pink Diamond

Today I read a review on Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color; the review was a good review, but I had just one major problem with the review. The review basically praised this lipstick as if it were worthy of a purchase, the review ranted and raved about how wonderful and beautiful the lipstick was.

I’m a makeup junkie, and I like to tell it how it truly is, I like to dig up the dirt on products. I like to include the pros and cons, and I will never blow up a product and make it out to be something it is not without at least weighing out the pros and cons.

For one, my lips have never met a lip stick that was perfect. Ever. You see perfect lipstick for me would be lipstick that goes on and leaves behind color without weighing my lips down with gunk and funk. The color would also remain on my lips till I washed it off, and my lips wouldn’t dry out due to oddball long lasting chemicals in the lip color.

Sadly, I have yet to find anything like this. I have found lipsticks close to this. Close, but no cigar.

Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color hit the shelves years ago at our local Walmart and drug stores. Due to the pretty packaging and convincing advertising shelves Maybelline set up in stores, I of course had to buy one.

I went with Pink Diamond, only because at the time pink was my color, and I loved sparkles.

You see Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color comes with tons of micro sparkles that are inside of the lipstick.

My Use:

I applied the lipstick and liked the results enough to go back a few days later and buy another shade. You see at this time in my life I was new to lipstick, and I thought that Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color was great. It gave my lips a shade of color, with shine, and oh yeah did I mention…the glitter?

I stopped using it about a month later due to the cap breaking and sliding off inside of my purse. It wasn’t just one of the lipsticks, it was both. For some reason the caps just loosened up and would pop right off in my bag. It sucked, it ruined the lipstick, and I stopped buying it.

However less than a year ago I decided to give Pink Diamond Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color a try once again. I figured that the company surely fixed this loose cap error by now. Besides, it’s been years! I’m sure consumers have written to the company about it, or emailed them wanting refunds.

Low and behold though this was not the case. The exact same thing occurred with round 2. The cap is just too loose to stay put on the lipstick. Maybelline really, really needs to redesign the cap, or fire the person that designed it! It’s ridiculous.

Now aside from the sucky cap, let me tell you about the actual lipstick. IT’S FOR TEENS! It’s true, because when I first bought a tube of the lipstick I was about 18 or 19. I thought it looked fabulous, the sparkle, the shine…

Years later though applying it to my lips was straight up nasty. The lipstick is sticky, it’s gritty, and the color and shine fades in less than an hour. I don’t know why I was alright with the texture years earlier, but I was definitely not feeling it this time around.

It seriously feels like there are small grains of dirt on your lips. It’s disgusting!

Overall:

Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds Lip Color is and will always be meant for teens who don’t know what lipstick is supposed to feel like (nothing). The colors are nice, I will give them that, but they do not last long enough; constant re-applying becomes a pain in the rear, and the texture…the God awful texture is not worth the purchasing it.

Where To Buy It:

You should avoid this one at any local drug store, or super store. They sell anywhere from $3.99 to $4.99.
