Marlowe’s Favorite Dog Parks in Boulder, Colorado

Baseball Fields, Dog Parks, Dog Parks In

Boulder, Colorado is the number one city that has more dogs than people or just as much has a variety of dog parks throughout the county. I have three dog parks that I have taken my dog, Marlowe many times.

The first dog park, Marlowe hadn’t been there since he was a puppy and I was amaze how much it had changed. This dog park butts up next to the East Boulder Recreation Center and it has a pond for water dogs to frolic in the heat. Parking is close by either at the recreation center or by the baseball fields. The park is divided into two sections, one for large dogs, and the other for small dogs. The large section is 2.5 acres and the smaller one is .25 acres. The lake has a concrete barrier for the water dogs to climb, but there is limited access. Dogs can roam wild without a leash in the enclosed area but must adhere to city rules outside the park. The dog park is free and open to the public year round. Marlowe loved going to this park when it was just a soft mesh barricade around the dog area but now it has a proper fence and there is a small entrance to take your dog off leash without other dog’s distractions. Dogs don’t have to be voice and sight trained. Voice and sight trained means the dogs that are off leash stay in-sight and are under the owner’s control.

The East Boulder dog park address is 5660 Sioux Dr.

The Dry Creek Trailhead isn’t really a dog park but many Boulderites love using it as one. There’s parking at the trailhead but be forewarned, it gets very busy during the weekends and parking is at a premium. Dogs do have to be voice and sight trained or on leash. The one-mile trail loops runs through prairie grassland and parallels a creek. There’s also a prairie dog habitat next to the trail but is enclosed. Marlowe loved this trail and as his owner loved the easy walk around the park. On hot days, the dogs love to get wet in the creek. The trail is wheelchair and baby stroller accessible. There are also picnic facilities but no public restrooms. This dog trail is great for getting outdoors and for socializing with your dog with other dog owners.

Dry Creek Trailhead address is Baseline Rd, east of the Baseline Reservoir and west of 75th Street in Boulder.

This last dog park is located in a suburb of Boulder in Louisville. This dog park is part of the Community Park that has family facilities such as play area for children, baseball fields, picnic area, and restrooms. The dog park is fenced in with a pond and is divided into two areas for off leashing. Puppies under four months aren’t allowed in the park due to the parvo virus. This is a great park for dogs as well as the people.

The dog park is located in Community Park at 955 Bella Vista, Louisville.
