Oprah fans and chocoholics have raised their chocolate goblets to this New York specialty, a rich chocolaty mix that is similar to a frozen daiquiri. The drink has become a popular summertime treat for New Yorkers who frequent the Serendipity 3 restaurant, but the rest of the world can enjoy the same gourmet delight at home with the recently disclosed recipe. If you’re looking for a fresh summertime treat, or just a new dessert, here’s the classic recipe with some more variations to enjoy something truly unique:

The Serendipity 3’s Frrrozen Hot Chocolate Recipe

INGREDIENTS
6 half-ounce pieces of your favorite chocolate variety
2 tsps. hot chocolate mix (Dagoba organics works perfectly)
1.5 tbsp. sugar
1.5 cups milk
3 cups of ice
Whipped cream
Chocolate shavings

Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and slowly add ½ cup of milk until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender, place the remaining cup of milk, the room-temperature chocolate mixture and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
