Sometimes you need to have extra cash to help fund your dreams of a creative career. Some people find that by doing jobs that are creative they get to develop as an artist without starving. You can work a full time job while pursuing a career in the fine arts or entertainment. For example, one actor who was out of work learned to refinish furniture to supplement her income in between shows. Others have found a satisfying career in massage therapy.

Some careers that could be considered good endeavors while developing your art include writing freelance articles, being a freelance illustrator, writing greeting cards, real estate, or even being a music tutor. Sometimes it can help you as you work towards your goals of a fine arts career, sometimes, it can be a goal in itself.

Some important things to remember when you pursue these ideas is not to burn out by taking time to nurture your soul, and to be kind to yourself without spending tons of cash. Go to a local park. Take up roller blading or bike riding or just walk to town. The point is, keep expanding, don’t give up. Take up belly dancing, or try standup comedy. Just keep fresh. People want the latest greatest thing. They want community, they want to feel accepted.

Trying to be perfect is the first step to being miserable. If you’re an artist, you should be a good artist, but trying to be on your best behavior could give you an anxiety attack if you pursue moral perfection. Remember to enjoy yourself. You can be polite, but know when to relax and have a laugh.

Sometimes they write songs and poems for greeting cards. Sometimes they write best selling novels. Others write for their local news. Others become librarians or professors or lawyers. Some even do management. Sometimes they write for blogs.

Singers and musicians sometimes become wedding singers and play music for weddings. Others are classical musicians, playing for operas or concerts. Many teach music. Sometimes, they critique it. Others become accountants. It just depends on your skill level and preference. Some are cabaret stars and even some sing Christian music. Some singers and musicians are back up vocalists and musicians that help record other star’s music.

There are many creative jobs in business too. Such as visual merchandisers who create sets at stores. Others set up displays at conventions. Some people model to advertise the company and even become spokes people.
