Make Your Shoes like New

Buying Shoes

In today’s day and age buying a new pair of shoes is becoming more and more expensive as time passes. While buying shoes online gives you more options and decreases the price dramatically often times it’s hard to spend the money on a new pair of shoes There are many reasons to buy a new pair of shoes such as if the sole is worn down on them, but if they just appear a little worn out there are some things you can do to make your shoes look like new again.

Wash your shoes with baking soda

It’s true, washing your shoes with baking soda can help to bring the bright color back to the fabric. If you’re a fan of white colored shoes as I am you can understand the frustration with dirt and other things that can make your shoes look old in a hurry, but mixing some baking soda with warm water will get rid of that age old discoloration that ware and tare creates. If your shoes are not white in color, no worries baking soda helps to bring some color back and will even help to protect your shoes from further damage. If after using baking soda you are not happy with the results you can always purchase an aftermarket shoe whitener for very cheap, just be sure to read the directions carefully when applying.

Buy new shoelaces

Shoelaces are an important part of the shoe and often times they are overlooked. If your shoe feels lose and wore out a simple changing of the shoelace can fix this problem. The fabric of shoelaces becomes wore out over time and as a result they don’t tighten the shoe as well as they once did. Changing the shoelaces is an easy way to improve the appearance of your shoes and give it that brand new look each and every time without breaking the bank.

Repair that loose sole

Often times the part of the shoe that gets worn out the most through use is the sole. If your sole is still intact you should lift up on the shoe and check for any looseness of the fabric. If you happen to find any lifting occurring during this test you can purchase what shoemakers call “shoeglue” which is a compound that helps to adhere all pieces of fabric of the shoe back together again. While this is an easy fix sometimes the sole of the shoe is completely worn out and if this happens to be the case find a shoe repairer in your area and they will give you new soles for a fractions of what you would pay for a new shoe. It’s hard to fund new shoes once you have gotten used to a pair you have had a while, but there are ways to make them new again. Don’t forget about your local shoemaker, they can save you a ton of money.
