Make Your Own Superbowl Nacho Dip

Sour Cream, Superbowl Party

Superbowls and junk food go hand in hand. Throw in some beer, and you have a party. If you are looking for something a little more than chips and dip then you need to try a homemade fiesta nacho dip.You can use your favorite nacho chip with this homemade dip. This dip will be very popular at your Superbowl party.

Ingredients:

1 brick cream cheese

1 lg. container sour cream

1 can refried beans

1 packet taco seasoning

1 jar salsa

3 cups shredded taco cheese

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 can of black olives

1 lg. bag of nacho chips

This nacho dip is put together in layers in a 9″x13″ pan. Start with softened cream cheese. If your cream cheese is right out of the refrigerator you can put it on a microwave safe plate and nuke it for ten seconds.

Put the cream cheese, the refried beans, and the taco seasoning in a mixing bowl. Mix the ingredients together until the texture is consistent. You may use a mixer set on a low speed if you are having trouble mixing the cream cheese into the beans. You can also add a tablespoon of sour cream to smooth out the mixture. This is the base layer for your fiesta nacho dip.

Spread your refried bean and cream cheese layer onto the bottom of your pan.

Drain the salsa. Do not drain it dry, just hold the lid over the mouth of the jar and pour out any extra salsa juice. Spread an even layer of salsa over the refried bean layer.

The next layer of your fiesta nacho dip is sour cream. Use a silicone or rubber spatula and spread the sour cream evenly over the salsa. It is easier to goop the sour cream on and then spread it from the top. Try not to mix the salsa and sour cream together.

The top layers of your fiesta nacho dip can vary depending on your tastes. Evenly spread the cheese over the entire surface of the sour cream.

Wash and drain the lettuce. Shred it into small pieces. Sprinkle the lettuce over the cheese. The lettuce is not a necessity for a good nacho dip but the presentation looks good.

Finally drain and slice or chop the black olives. Sprinkle the olives over the entire dish. Your fiesta nacho dip is now ready.

You can be creative with this nacho dip. I have tried different variations with the bottom layer. I have used just refried beans and taco seasoning. I have also used just cream cheese, taco seasoning, and a tablespoon of sour cream. You can create this nacho dip to reflect your tastes.

Remember to keep the nacho dip cool since it has sour cream and cream cheese in it. Place the pan on cookie sheet and set ice cubes all the way around the pan. This should keep the outside of nacho dip cool.

A Superbowl party is not complete without a fiesta nacho dip. Make up a batch and enjoy the game.
