Madagascar Themed Party Favors for Kids

Madagascar, Madagascar 3, Straws

Are your children in love with the Madagascar movies? Do they try and sing “New York, New York” like Alex and Marty? Perhaps they are more enchanted with Melman, Gloria and the Penguins. Either way, you may want to think about planning a Madagascar themed party for them this year. In my experience, there are quite a few party favors that would work well with such a theme. Here’s a quick look at a handful of my favorites:

Madagascar School Supplies

Madagascar themed school supplies tend to work well as party favors. I have found that many elementary school age kids typically like to receive animal pencil toppers, stickers, notepads, pencils and pencil cases. Animal shaped crayons are also often a big hit with the preschool crowd. You can typically purchase each of the previously mentioned items at most party supply shops for less than $5 a pack.

Penguin Paratroopers

Penguin Paratroopers would also make cute party favors. The ones that I am familiar with feature a 2 inch tall penguin clad in a winter scarf and hat. The penguin also comes equipped with an 18 inch plastic parachute. As such, the kids can toss the penguins up into the air and watch them float to the ground. Many party supply shops sell the Penguin Paratroopers, especially around Christmas time. In my experience, a dozen paratroopers will lighten your wallet by about $6.

Animal Lollipops

In my opinion, animal themed lollipops would make super party favors too. There are various confectionary and bakery supply shops that sell animal themed candy molds. In general, the molds will cost you $1 to $5 each, depending on the retailer. Because the Madagascar movies contain a wide array of characters, I’d suggest purchasing a variety of different animal molds. That way, you’ll be sure that the children’s favorite critters are adequately represented.

Movie Themed Edibles

Would you rather not hand out lollipops? Well, take heart. There are other edible treats that would work with a Madagascar theme. For instance, you could serve circus foods like popcorn, cotton candy and peanuts. It would match the circus theme that runs throughout the series’ third installment, “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.” If you do decide to go with that idea, I’d recommend using circus themed bags to package the treats. Circus themed popcorn, peanuts and cotton candy bags are typically available for purchase through most party supply shops. A dozen bags are likely to cost you $2.

Madagascar Temporary Tattoos

If you are working with a razor-thin budget, Madagascar Temporary Tattoos are also worthy of consideration. A 4-pack of the tattoos is apt to cost you less than $3 each. Each 4-pack often yields a dozen 1.5 inch, full-color tattoos.

Penguins of Madagascar Crazy Straws

Last but not least, you may also want to consider giving your party guests Penguins of Madagascar Crazy Straws. The straws tend to be yellow with circular discs attached to them. The circular discs feature full-color graphics of the Madagascar characters. The straws are often available through select party supply shops for $1 each. One retailer that sells the straws is Discount Party Supplies.
