LUSH: Karma Dusting Powder

You know that weird funky hippie smell that you first inhale when you walk into a head shop? A mixture of patchouli, herbs and a weird musky incense that you can’t quite describe, yet for some reason the scent is so warming, welcoming and memorable. That scent is basically what you get from Lush’s most famous product. Karma.

Karma is sold in many different forms on Lush.com, and the latest form of Karma was given to me recently in a Dusting Powder form.

I usually steer clear from Lush’s dusting powders because I find that they are messy, and even when the package is closed, if tipped it will still release powder.

At any rate though, Karma is one of my all time favorite scents from Lush. My boyfriend picked out the Karma Dusting Powder for me for our anniversary, and even though I’ve never been too big on powders, I must say, I really frigging love Karma Dusting Powder.

Packaging:

Karma Dusting Powder comes in a small 3.5 ounce orange cardboard container with the Karma logo scrawled on it in a bold yellow color. The container of course comes with a standard powder sifter attached to the top. Honestly though the holes in this sifter are way, way too big, and tipping the container over will result in the powder just pouring out all over the place, so you really have to be careful.

My Use:

I love Karma. I love the smell of it, I love the mood it puts me in, and mostly I love how long the scent stays with me! Karma Dusting powder delivers, and it delivers hard! The scent lasts for around 3 hours, which is toned down compared to the soap, which is so powerful it could make you sick.

The powder makes my skin feel soft, silky, fresh and clean after rubbing it into my skin. I used it just about everywhere, cracks, crevasse’s, armpits, and body. I also dash a little in my shoes, and it is a scent that definitely draws attention.

Applying the powder can be messy at times, but that is normally expected of any powder. I always make sure to apply it in the buff, and make sure I rub it into my skin before applying clothes. If it gets on clothing it will leave behind a dull looking coat that is annoying to try and pat off, so that is why I recommend you apply it naked.

Issues:

The only issues I have with Karma Dusting Powder is the fact that if it falls over, even when the sifter is set to closed, some of the powder will fly out through the sides.

Not only that, I think the sifting holes are way to big, and they release way too much powder, so you can’t really ‘dust’ it around your body, it actually pours out onto your body if you try dusting it on.

For the easiest application, shake some of the powder out into your palm, and apply that way.

Recommendation:

I will be honest, Lush’s Karma scent is not for everyone. It’s for those who enjoy herbal scents, for those who love the scent of head shops. If incense, patchouli, or spicy long lasting scents have never been your thing, than you will want to steer clear of Karma, because she packs one serious kick of fragrance.

As far as the Karma Dusting Powder, I do recommend it, but really for those who already know and love the scent of Karma. If you want to try it, pick up the bar soap first, and see if you like it before spending the $11.25 on the dusting powder.
