Limited Edition Mint Crisp M&Ms;: A Minty Snack You Won’t Be Able to Resist

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Always a sucker for M&Ms;, I spied the Limited Edition Mint Crisp version at the checkout line at the supermarket. I was a serious fan of the previous mint M&Ms; and missed having them around. I was excited to see that mint M&Ms; were back, but with a new twist: a crispy center. Tied in with the newest Indiana Jones movie, these little gems were hard to resist. Who can’t resist Harrison Ford?

I dug into the medium sized bag, which is 11.80 oz. Inside were white, dark green and light green M&Ms; of varying sizes. I took my first bite. It tasted a lot like a chocolate mint covered Rice Krispy. I found that if I tossed several of them in my mouth it was like eating a Keebler Grasshopper cookie. Best of all, my kids didn’t like the mint flavor, so I had the bag all to myself.

Other than eating these right out of the bag, I crunched up a handful and added it to some pistachio pudding to see how it would taste and was not disappointed. I am confident that Mint Crisp M&Ms; would be divine in a Grasshopper pie. Another easy twist would be to mix the pistachio pudding mix, some Cool Whip and crunched up Mint Crisp M&M;, then pour into an Oreo cookie pie crust and freeze for an easy dessert with little prep time required.

Since Mint Crisp M&Ms; are so festively colored, they would make an excellent accent for cake decorators or a colorful addition to bridal or baby shower snack bowls.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this product and would not hesitate to buy it again. The minty taste wasn’t overboard such that you felt like you had just eaten a breath mint; rather, it was a gentle hint of mint that mixed very well with the chocolate and crisp. It was hard for me not to overeat and I found myself repeatedly reaching into the bag long after I had vowed that I had eaten enough.

Don’t wait too long to buy some, as these are limited edition and will be off the market in a few months time. Since the bag design is a tie in with the new Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, these little gems of deliciousness will likely disappear after the hype of the movie dies down. The movie is set to premiere in May, 2008.
