Letter “B” Lesson Plans for Students

Field Trip Ideas

Teaching your students the alphabet can be both fun and exciting. However it can be rather boring if not done in the proper way. Here are some great ideas on how to teach your preschooler’s the letter B.

Letter B Game and Craft Ideas

A great game to play having to do with the letter B is called Bah-alloons. For this game blow up enough balloons so that every child in your classroom has one. Then when you say go have the students throw them in the air. When a balloon comes close to a child they must hit it back into the air making the bah sound, which is the sound the letter B makes. The point of the game is to keep all the balloons in the air. When the balloons have all hit the ground the game is over.

A great craft idea is to make paper plate bees. Before class starts cut out bee wings, heads, and stingers out of construction paper. Then when your students arrive give them each a paper plate and all the pieces. Have them color the paper plate to look like a bee. Then with your help they can tape the pieces onto their bees.

Another great activity is called color the B’s. Give each of your preschoolers a sheet that has a bunch of block letters on it. Have them color only the B’s on the sheet.

Letter B Field Trip Ideas

A great place to go with your preschoolers while talking about the letter b is to a bakery. Your students can help make some great desserts. They can also learn how to make many things found in a bakery.

Another great idea is to have a guest speaker from a bird rescue center. These centers love to bring birds into classrooms to teach children about them. They will bring many types of birds including parrots.

Another great place to go with your preschoolers is to a book bindery. Here your students can be taught how a book is made. They can even get their very own bound book.

Letter B Snack Ideas

A great snack idea for the letter b is to make chocolate covered bananas. Give each of your students a plate of chocolate and a banana. Let them dip the banana into the chocolate. Then place the chocolate covered bananas in the freezer. After a couple of hours your students can eat them.

Another great snack idea is called bugs on a log. Give each of your students some celery, cream cheese, and raisins. Help your students put the cream cheese on the celery and then add the raisins (or bugs) onto the celery (or log).

With these lesson plans your students will have a great time. They will learn all about the letter b while doing fun games and crafts. Use these in your plans to add some fun.
