Grubstake became a diner in 1927, before diners were in style. Can you tell I’m partial to diners? Besides great food, it’s typically diners that offer late night, early morning and sometimes 24 hour service. Grubstake was originally a true rail car. You can get full meals, just a burger, breakfast food and deserts up until 4:00 AM. In 1995, The Grubstake began to offer the “Portuguese Corner” to the menu and is still to date the only restaurant that provides customers with a choice of Portuguese dishes along with the American diner style food.
