Lakefront Festival of the Arts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The 45th Annual Lakefront Festival of Arts will be taking place on the grounds of the Milwaukee Art Museum on June 15-17 this year.

The annual event is held on the lakefront of Lake Michigan. The grounds of the Art Museum are beautiful, making them a great place for a leisurely afternoon. Visitors get a chance to spend quality time outdoors, take leisure walk, see works of art in the tents, and to see entertainment on the grounds. There will be refreshments, including a wine garden.

The prestigious art festival will have approximately 170 artists displaying works in ceramics, digital, drawing pastel, fiber non-wear, fiber wear, glass, jewelry, metal, painting and photography.

Artist Demonstrations will take place over the weekend, with demonstrations in sculpture, mixed media 3D, ceramics and painting.

Musical entertainment will be provided by a variety of musicians, including: Donna Woodall Group, Northern Room, Good Luck Joes, Stas Venglevsky trio, Green Tea, Knock on Wood, Curt Hanrahan Septet, Jeno Somlai Latin Music Ensemble and Street life with Warren Wiegratz.

Children can enjoy Children’s Activities and the Children’s Stage. The Children’s Stage – Performing Arts features heartwarming family entertainment, with storytelling and music Robbie Clements will perform a combination of music, comedy and storytelling. Discovery World Museum’s Traveling Wonderland Fire and Ice: A Show of Extremes. Chicken Pond is Ballet meets bluegrass, Ali Baba and the Magic Cave is the classic Arabian Nights tale of intrigue in ancient Persia. Peter and the Wolf will be performed by the Ballet Center Performance Company. Fox and Branch performs familiar children’s songs and folk melodies.

The show is set up into different galleries:

In-Tents Art. Located in a state-of-the-art tent directly in front of the museum. The unique galleries of 172 jury selected artist allow visitors to converse the the artists as the artists reveal their distinctive talent in a variety of media.

College art show: Collection of artwork by talented college students.

Fiber Art Fashion Show: Moving exhibit. Models walk the grounds wearing the unique art fashions of the featured artists.

Sculpture Garden: Landscape size sculptures designed by this years festival artists.

Children’s Art Center: Creation station for the young ones to nurture their creativity. Ex Disney artist Tim Decker will invite children to do cartoon drawings with him.

Silent Auction: Tent full of valuable art donated by many of the Festival’s popular artists.Bidding will take place on these donated works of art for the duration of the festival, up until two hours before the end of the festival. Proceeds benefit the Milwaukee Art Museum.

Fabulous Food: Snacks and beverages will be available from many vendors. Food vendors include: Aladdin, Koepsell’s Popcorn, Ultimate confections, Milwaukee Art Museum Cafe, Major Goolsby’s and The Coffee Guys.

LFOA Wine Garden: guest can enjoy a refreshing glass of wine, while relaxing in a seat under an umbrella table.

The Lakefront Festival of Arts is held in front of the Milwaukee Art Museum, along Lincoln Memorial Drive. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the gate. There is parking off of Lagoon Drive, just follow the signs. There is also a continuously running tram. Festival hours are: Friday 12-8 pm, Saturday 10 am – 7 pm, Sunday 10 am – 5 pm.
