Kentucky Fishing License Information

Fishing License, Kentucky, Kentucky Attractions

The last time I had bought a Kentucky fishing license was so long ago that it was only $7. Imagine my surprise when I went this year to buy my Kentucky fishing license and they told me it would now cost $20. I don’t really know when it was that I only paid $7 for my Kentucky fishing license but it could not have been to long since I have only lived in Kentucky since 2002.

Kentucky Fishing License Options

I am going to go over the non-commercial options for your Kentucky fishing license. If you were hoping to find commercial information you can visit the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife website for more information. An annual Kentucky fishing license for a Kentucky resident is $20 and the same license is $50 for a non Kentucky resident. If you are a Kentucky resident you have the option to get a husband and wife license for $36, this Kentucky fishing license option can only be purchased at a licensed agent and not on the internet or over the phone as the other options. A one day Kentucky fishing license for a resident is $7 and it is $10 for a non Kentucky resident. Non Kentucky residents can also purchase a 7 day Kentucky fishing license for $30 or a 15 day Kentucky fishing license for $40. There other options for a Kentucky fishing license including an annual hunting/fishing combination for $30 which is only available to Kentucky residents. Senior citizens and disabled citizens that are residents of Kentucky can purchase a hunting/fishing combination for only $5.

It is fairly simple to purchase your Kentucky fishing license as you can purchase it by calling the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife 1-877-598-2401. You can also purchase your Kentucky fishing license online through the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife website. If you do not want to purchase your Kentucky fishing license on line or are purchasing one that you have to buy at a licensed agent, you can find licensed agents in multiple locations across the state. I usually by my Kentucky fishing license at Wal-Mart but you can also visit The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife’s website which allows you to find licensed agents by county.

Important Information

If you are only going to ‘help’ your child fish, per Kentucky regulations you will still need to purchase a Kentucky fishing license.

The current Kentucky fishing license is good from March 1, 2009-February 28, 2010. Even if you buy your license in January of 2010 it will still expire on February 28, 2010. Kentucky fishing licenses are not prorated so even if only one month is left in the current season, you will still pay full price.

You can get a replacement license if you lost yours for $5 by visiting The Kentucky Department of fish and wildlife website for more information.
