Jungle Jim’s International Market – Review

Jungle Jim’s is a one of a kind shopping experience.

Jungle Jim’s is a grocery store or more exactly, a grocery experience. It is worth a trip to experience this one of a kind location. Jungle Jim’s has miles of aisles to explore. You can peruse 1.5 acres of produce along with 50,000 international products and cigars from 70 countries.

Typical grocery store finds are weekly ad deals and grocery departments you would find in a regular grocery store. But this is no regular grocery store, so you will find the usual suspects along with specialty items not found in other places. Similar to big box stores, Jungle Jim’s does offer the tasting stations. Food demonstrations can occur on any day but you will mostly find them on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But if you visit on an off demo day, there is always a bite of cheese to sample. Taking this concept a step further, Jungle Jims also hosts beer tastings, cigar tastings, wine tastings and a cooking school.

Looking for international fair? You will probably find it here. According to their website they boast: “Jungle Jim’s International Market is the largest International grocery store in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Similar to other grocery stores, Jungle Jim’s offers a multitude of services including banking, medical services including a foot specialist, a family dentist, Sears Optical, an Old-Fashioned Pharmacy, a US Post Office branch, Cincinnati Bell Wireless plus you can get lunch at Jungle Subs or Starbucks coffee. Adding to the experience aspect, you will find displays and animatronics that entertain, as well as label the location of the store. On our visit we were greeted by a talking corn cob and we spent way too much time viewing a talking can of Campbell’s soup that hung from the ceiling.

A few suggestions for your visit:

If you are looking for something specific ask an employee for it’s location. On your first visit, give yourself enough time to wander and explore without a list to fulfill. If you are looking to fill a grocery list, view a map of the store. After two hours of perusing, I am not sure we saw everything. The store seems to take off in every direction, which seemed to have no rhyme or reason to us.
