It’s Carnival Time in Claremont, California!

Claremont, Mother's Day Celebration

Every year over Mother’s Day weekend Our Lady of the Assumption Church (OLA) presents their ever popular and highly anticipated carnival/festival open to the public and admission is free! Our Lady of the Assumption Church (OLA) is located at 435 N. Berkely Ave. in Claremont, California between W. Harrison and W. Bonita Avenues, one block west of Indian Hill Blvd.

This year the 2010 carnival theme is an African Safari Fiesta and just like every year, for as long as I can remember, there are exciting surprises along with the standard fare of great food, lively music, games, prizes and carnival rides for the whole family. The colorful little-tyke area for kids has a selection of safe rides and games for your toddlers as well as the rest of your children.

However your teens will want to hang out around the big rides where all their friends meet and congregate. Everyone is invited to come, bring friends and family to have fun and play the skill games in booths surrounding the church parking lot.

Test your skills at throwing ping pong balls into a matrix of glass globes and you can win goldfish or try your hand at tossing softballs to topple the stacks of metal canisters. Then compete with others hunting for big game at the rifle-shoot where multiple bulls-eyes will win you stuffed animals and other great safari prizes.

While you are gaming you will probably notice the wafting aroma of barbecue drawing you to the food court for a myriad of possible meal combinations, desserts, snacks and drinks for a modest price. Take-five at the picnic tables and enjoy the festival ambiance while eating a home-style family dinner together when the gates open Friday night, May 7th at 5:00 p.m.

Bring all your friends on Saturday May 8th for a full day of food, games, rides and prizes until closing time at 9:00 p.m. Then on Sunday May 9th Mother’s Day, escort your mom to church in the morning and afterward take her out for an exciting barbecue lunch at OLA’s African Safari Festival and carnival.

Once there, take mom on rides and win her lots of goldfish and stuffed animals to show her how much you care. I promise it will be a Mother’s Day celebration she will never forget, as I still remember every one of my Mother’s Days celebrated at the OLA Festivals! Since admission is free for everyone you can also afford to treat mom to safari fiesta-style barbecue dinner before closing time at 9:00 p.m!

The OLA Fiesta 2010 promises to be the biggest party in town but you can call to verify or get additional information by calling the church office at (909)626-3596. Make sure you bring your family to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend at the annual OLA Fiesta carnival and prepare to have a great time!
