Improve Heart Disease with Homocysteine Regulators

Hydrochloric Acid

My husband has the family history and the recipe already in his bloodstream for plenty of heart disease. We started seeing the effects of this somewhere around his 37th birthday. At first I was upset by the high levels we were seeing on his lipid panel results. Then I put my wholistic head on and started to research ways in which we could naturally decrease these levels. I then came across a group of supplements called Homocysteine Regulators. We tried them and it was a great move.

Homocysteines are amino acids that adhere to the walls of the arteries, resulting in plaque build up, along with damage to the arteries themselves. It is also responsible for promoting blood clots as well. This condition is related to genetic factors as well as diet.

B-vitamins in general are helpful in fighting off this condition. Particularly B-12 and Folic Acid. You’ll find these two nutrients in many of the products that are made to help regulate plasma homocysteines. Included in this mix is usually some Hydrochloric Acid to assist in digesting these two nutrients.

After doing some research to find my husband help in managing this problem, it all made sense to me. I knew from my nutritional background, that as we age our ability to digest nutrients and food becomes compromised and our enzyme and hydrochloric acid levels begin to decrease. Knowing that B-vitamins need good strong levels of Hydrochloric Acid to be adequately assimilated and utilized, it made sense that we would see more increased levels in lipid panel results as we age, because we have less HCL to digest the B-vitamins.

Without the B-vitamins getting adequately digested and absorbed, you will be left open to homocysteine making its way onto your arteries. So if you are someone who has this in your family history, as my husband does, you’re going to start to see elevated lipid panel levels as you age.

There are alot of good supplements on the market to combat this problem. The one I found to be most helpful in my husbands case was a product by Now Foods called Homocysteine Regulators. It not only has the Folic Acid and B-12, but it also includes Hydrochloric acid. This is something you won’t always find in all of the formulas, and you want to make sure it’s included because it will ensure adequate digestion of the folic acid and B-12 for optimum nutrient uptake. They are taken right before eating meals. My husband takes them for larger snacks as well.

My husbands levels significantly decreased upon using these supplements. He went from tryglyceride levels of over 500, all the way down to 170 in 3 months time which put him in the borderline high range, instead of way off the chart range! Generally, they don’t like to see tryglyceride levels going over 150. His doctor asked me if we had the right guys blood! These supplements are very effective, but adding exercise and eating well has got to be part of the picture as well.

My husband will likely be on these supplements for his lifetime considering that heart disease runs in his family. His lipid panels continue to be within the normal ranges unless he gets lazy about taking them. He’s pretty sold on them though, after seeing the difference in his bloodwork. That was enough to motivate him to keep taking these regularly. If high lipid blood levels plague you as well, consider taking these. It is well worth the money spent and there are no side effects from them as well.
