Impressions of the Barcelo Premium Mayan Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico

If you are planning a trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico you should consider the Barcelo Beach Resort Hotel. It is an all inclusive hotel located about 50 feet from the beach. I was impressed by everything the hotel had to offer us.

Upon arriving we went to the front desk to check in. We told him our names and as he was looking it up on the computer he asked us if we wanted a beer or a margarita as we were checking in! I looked at my husband and smiled. That is the first time we were ever asked if we wanted a drink as we were checking in at a hotel. We said sure we’ll take 2 coronas. So he got on the phone and called the bar and 2 minutes later, we were enjoying a nice cold beer as we were being told about what our hotel all had to offer us.

After getting our room key, we went to the room and the bell boy brought our bags to our room. We had a gorgeous room with a balcony overlooking the beautiful hotel’s gardens and swimming pools. Also on the dresser was a basket of fresh fruit with a welcome card on it. The mini fridge was stocked with water and beer with a note that had a number to call if you needed it refilled.

Once we got the room situated we started to explore the area. The hotel grounds was huge! It seemed like it went on forever. But they were filled with gorgeous flowers, fountains, swimming pools, and trees. We found the first restaurant La Mesa Del Captain. They served food from 10:30 am – 6:30 pm. They had items like pizza, tacos, seafood, fruit, salads, pastas, and so much more. Ready for you to walk in and grab a plate whenever you felt like it during those hours. They also had wine, beer, and of course tequila available to drink. Along with bottled water and soda too

As we were walking we realized we had everything we could ever want at the hotel. There were little shops everywhere selling things like jewelry, shirts, and crafts. There was even a mini mall in the middle of the resort that had probably around 20 shops in it. Also next to the mall was a giant nightclub called Jaguars. $15 for men and $10 for women got you the VIP room that over looked the dance floor. They had comfortable booths to sit in and you own personal cocktail waitress bringing you the drinks. It was well worth upgrading to VIP. We had a great time in there and got to meet some new people.

The swimming pool seemed to go on forever. They had about 3 swim up bars in different areas. In the middle of the pools were gorgeous fountains that lit up at night. And of course lots of chairs where people could lay out and tan.

In the main lobby they had the Lobby Bar Beach and Garden. It was a very nice and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy some drinks at. You could either sit at the bar, or sit at a table around the bar. When you sat at the table, a cocktail waitress would come around and serve you your drinks. Also in the main lobby was the restaurant that served all the meals. They offered such a variety of food daily, it was unbelievable. And the food was great.

Also next to the lobby was the Kululcan Theater. In there they had nightly shows going on. Either they served snacks and showed a movie, or they had a band playing or a musical play going on. The shows were very entertaining. Plus it is another great way to relax at night.

The recreation at the hotel was awesome. There was so much stuff you could do. They have a mini golf course, 3 tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball, a gym and jacuzzi, soccer, badminton, table tennis, billiards, darts, shuffleboard, and rifle shooting. Plus you could go snorkeling, jet-skiing, use the pedal boats, and many other water activities. The list goes on and on for all the activities you could do. They also had a giant chess set outside that you could play. The pieces were about as tall as I am and I am 5″7! They also have a Kids Club Playhouse which was really neat. They was someone in their doing crafts and projects with them and they played games also. So if you have kids it is a great way to occupy them and get a little free time for yourself.

I was very impressed with everything at the Barcelo Beach Resort Hotel. Service was great and very helpful and friendly. The area was clean and well taken care of. Like I said before, the recreation possibilities seemed to be endless! Plus the best part is that it is all inclusive. So all you meals, activities, tips and drinks at the hotel are all taken care of already. I would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and families! It has a great location on the beach and about a 15 minute drive to Playa Del Carmen which is an awesome shopping area. If you are planning a trip to Mexico make sure to check out the Barcelo Resorts!
