How Using Cloth Diapers Instead of Pull-ups Can Help Your Child to Potty Train Quicker

Pull Ups

Teaching a child to use the potty properly is definitely a lot of hard work. It can take a long time until your child is able to use the potty well and often enough to wear big kids underwear. There is however a way to train your children a lot quicker. Following are a few ideas and suggestions that you may find helpful when it is time to start potty training your child.

The first thing that you want to do is start early. Through my own personal experience I have found that waiting until a child is three or four years old to start potty training is way too late. Although there are many books that seem to suggest that this is the way to go it really is just slowing your child down, and they will be prone to a lot more accidents when they are in school. The best age to start training them to use the potty is when they are about to turn two. Of course some parents choose to start even earlier. You have probably also seen and heard about pull-ups that are made by various diaper companies such as huggies, and pampers. These are supposed to be designed to make it easier to potty train your child. Instead they actually end up making your job a lot harder. With most pull-ups it is very difficult for children to feel that they are wet. This sis because pull-ups are made to keep children feeling dries. Of course pull-ups are unable to hold as much as a diaper, they still do not allow your child to feel wet enough to the point where they become uncomfortable.

This is why so many parents find cloth diapers to be a very handy resource. If you did not like to use cloth diapers when your child was younger you may find it beneficial to use it when they are a toddler. Of course since they are walking around you will have to worry about more of a mess. If however you purchase the underwear cover up which is plastic on the outside, you will not have to worry about them getting pea stains on your carpet or floors. This will hold the pea in but your child’s cloth diaper will be wet and they will feel uncomfortable.

If you are not sure if this method will work or not why not take the time to give it a try. You may be surprised at how quickly your child begins to pick up the idea of using the potty is a good thing. Along with not using the pull-ups you should make it a point to take your child to the bathroom every fifteen minutes or so. If for some reason they don’t want to use the potty when you take them don’t force them. It will still take you and them time to get used to the cloth diapers. Don’t worry though it won’t take as long as you think it will. Usually by using the cloth diapers you should be able to get your child potty trained within a few weeks, or a month at the longest. This means that you have to really stick with it for everyday during that time period. The good thing is that after about a month you will be saving a lot of money on diapers.
