How to Throw an “Under the Sea” Birthday Party for Your Daughter

Goody, Goody Bags, Sea Creature, Starfish

Instead of throwing another Bratz or Barbie party for your daughter’s next birthday, try to come up with something a little more unique this year. An Under the Sea birthday party can be a fun, and unique birthday theme for young children. This theme is also great for a party with boys and girls, since it is gender neutral. Here are a few fun ideas to make your child’s Under The Sea party a splash!

Games:
Starfish Hunt: Order starfish in bulk (try ebay or oriental Express). Hide the starfish around the house. Give each child a bad or bucket for the starfish and have them go on a starfish hunt. The child who finds the most starfish wins a prize.

Dig for Sea shells: Buy a large plastic bin. Fill the bin with sand and hide several sea shells in the sand. Give children (only a couple at a time) a shovel and have them dig for the seashells.

Musical Beach Towels: Same concept as musical chairs, except with beach towels. Play the soundtrack from the Little Mermaid, as the children walk around the beach towels. As soon as you stop the music each child has to sit on a towel. The child who does not have a towel to sit on is out. Keep playing until there is a winner.

Decor:
Birthday Express has a very cute Under the Sea themed package, which includes plates, napkins, goody bags and more. Here are a few other ideas for decorating you Under The Sea party. Hang blue streamers in the doorways. Fill the room with lots of blue and sea green balloons. Decorate the snack table with small seashells and starfish. Buy paper or cardboard fish cutouts and hang them from the ceiling with fishing line.

Food:
Serve snacks such as goldfish crackers with blue kool-aid for the children. Cupcakes made with blue frosting and topped with a candy gummy sea creature are a hit with the kids.

Goody Bags: Here are a few ideas for the goody bags. Fill the children’s goody bags with sea animal stickers and stamps, candy, goggles, small plastic sea animals. All these items can be purchased from Oriental Trading. Most likely you will be able to find many of these items on Ebay too.

These are just a few ideas you can use for an Under the Sea birthday theme. Make the party your own by including the birthday boy or girl in the preparations. Your child will love this party theme!
