Oktoberfest is a Bavarian celebration that includes music, good food and lots of beer. So when October rolls around why not have your own small backyard version of Oktoberfest. It’s a simple undertaking and will be fun for everyone who attends.

Here is a guide on how to plan the perfect Oktoberfest party.

1) Party invitations. You can send out invites to all your friends to join you this fall for your party. Some of these darling invitations can be printed up on line free of charge and others charge a reasonable amount for a stunning batch of cards.

4) You will need beer. Buy a keg or some bottles of specialty real Oktoberfest beer for everyone to enjoy. Most of the major beer manufacturers come out with their own Oktoberfest beer in the fall. These tend to be brewed the old way and offer a slight variation in taste from other beers. It will lend a bit of authenticity to your party. Also don’t forget to buy soda for the kids and designated drivers to drink or perhaps juice.

5) If you have a large tent then put it up in your backyard and stick your ice coolers and beer keg inside. Most Oktoberfest feature tents and more tents.

7) Music is a must for this event. Pick up some authentic German Cd’s to enjoy. Maybe even start your own version of the Chicken Dance or the Polka in your backyard with your family and friends. I’m sure it will illicit a lot of laughs and good times as everyone tries to recreate these fun dances.
