How to Make Vegetable Fritters: A Detailed Cooking Guide with Nutritional Information

Being a vegetarian can be a hard thing to do. Many of us do not understand how to properly eat without consuming meat. We fail to get our proper nutrients and the results of this can be rather health hazardous. That is why I am going to produce several articles that offer you step by step directions to making some popular vegetarian dishes.

If you are wondering if there is a dish that contains something you love, shoot me a comment or email. I will try to make these articles as special as I can. My goal is to inform the public of all the unique meals that a vegetarian can eat.

We are going to look at how to make Vegetable Fritters today. These are mixed vegetable fritters that are coated in a light batter and deep-friend until golden brown. They are a great treat for those looking to try something new.

Vegetable Fritters:

Ingredients:
-3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
-pinch of cayenne pepper (very hot!)
-4 tsp olive oil
-1 cup broccoli florets
-12 tbsp cold water
-1 cup cauliflower florets
-1 large carrot, cut into batons
-1 red bell pepper, seeded & slices
-2 egg whites, beaten
-Oil, needed for deep frying
-Salt

You will also need to get the following ingredients to make the SAUCE for this dish:

-2/3 cup pineapple juice
-2/3 cup vegetable bouillon
-2 tbsp white wine vinegar
-2 tbsp light brown sugar
-2 tsp cornstarch
-2 scallions chopped.

Your first step is to sift the flour. You will then take a pinch of salt and put it into a mixing bowl with cayenne pepper and the flour. Next, make a well in the center and gradually beat in the oil and cold water You will need to repeat this process until the product in the bowl is nice and smooth. Do not proceed if the product is lumpy. It really needs to be smooth!

The next step is to grab all your vegetables. Make sure that they have been washed and are properly cleaned before cooking them. You will take all your vegetables and place them into a pan of boiling water. Let the vegetable boil in the water for five minutes. Once the five minutes are complete, take the vegetables out of the water and drain them well.

Take your egg whites and place them into a bowl. You will then need to grab your whisk (hopefully you have one). The whisk will be used to whisk the egg whites until they form peaks. Once this happens, gently fold them into the flour batter.

Your vegetables will then be ready for the next step in the cooking process. Dip the vegetables into the batter, turning them several times to make sure they get a good coat of batter on them. Make sure to drain off any excess batter from the vegetables.

Heat the oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit/180 degrees Celsius. Make sure that you do this until a cube of bread browns in the oil for 30 seconds. Fry the coated vegetables. This will need to be done in batches for 1 to 2 minutes. Basically, you need to make sure each vegetable fritter is golden brown. Once you see this, remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on some paper towels.

Place all of the sauce ingredients in a pan and bring them to a boil. Start stirring the contents until the sauce is thickened. The sauce will then be ready to pour in a serving bowl. Display the product any way that you like on your plate. You will now be able to serve the meal to a group of 4 people. They are incredibly delicious and a great treat. Hopefully you enjoyed this brief cooking lesson. It feels great to write about something I have a lot of experience with!
