How to Make a Star Wars Birthday Party

Death Star, Do it Your Self

These days party supplies can be outrageous to buy new. The following will be ideas and tips from a DO It your self Birthday party I held for my die hard star wars fan. I will give step by step directions and tips on where to find certain items cheap. All of these are fairly easy and cheaper then your average party. They will be sure to make any star wars fan extremely happy and quit possibly their best party ever.

First you will need to know a little about the story its self. To do this either research it on the web or in the library. You will need pictures of some of the major characters and ships etc. Don’t be afraid though you will not need to know much about star wars to create the perfect party. You may want to start will searching for and downloading images and invitations off the web. There are several sites for this. You can use the images for decorations later.

If your special birthday person wants a pinata no problem. An easy one to make is the death star;you may need a pic to be able to complete this. It will also take a little time to accomplish this so make sure you leave adequate time to complete this craft. First you will need a balloon, blown up. This will be the beginning of the death star. Now you will need glue, flour and water. You will take one cup of flour and one cup of water and mix it together with a fork. After that add some glue, plain white glue is fine. Now you will want to have an area to work and cover it with news paper. Take some extra news paper and rip into small strips. Take these pieces and dip them into the mixture and place onto the balloon. You will do this until the balloon is covered then let it dry over night. You will need to repeat these steps a couple of times. You will want to make sure you leave a whole at the top of the balloon though so the pinata can be filled. Once all the layers are done you can pop the balloon and pull it out. Now you can paint the death star start with a silver. Let this dry and then take black and finish with all the details. Once all that is done you can add two small wholes for string so it can be hung up and add the candy and toys. Cover the top that you left open after it is filled with paper and the paste mix and continue with decorating it. Now you have the perfect star wars pinata.

Of course now you will need decorations. To do this you can print images off the Internet or go to the library and cop pictures. These can be attached to the wall around the room or you can take streamers of red, blue and yellow and hang them up. You can do this outside or over door ways etc. You can also hang the streamer its self around for extra effect. You can even decorate the cake for the added star wars effect. You can use whatever size cake you want. I did a dark side and Jedi side themed cake. You can use red and blue icing for the opposite sides. If you want you can add little figures with light sabers for the opposite sides. I even added light sticks around the edges of the cake with gel icing over them. It made a really neat glowing affect to the cake.

For games I made light sabers blue and red. These were also given as favors to each child attending. To make them I used water noodles and cut them in half. Them I took black duck tape and wrapped it around one end for the handle. You can use these for gentle play battles or just as favors. I also took a small kids punching bag and decorated it as Darth Vader. Then I made some bean bags;you can do this by taking fabric and sewing three sides thing turning them inside out. After that fill with beans of any kind and sew the last edge. Do this for several bags and the children can take turns throwing them at Darth Vader and knocking him down.
