How to Create a Candy Buffet

Candy Buffet

Whether you’re creating a candy buffet for a formal wedding or a casual party, the candy buffet can be a fun addition to any event. Although candy buffets are not difficult to create, these tips will help you to make yours perfect!

Theme

My first tip is to create a theme. Probably the best theme to create for your candy buffet is through color. Choose two or three colors that compliment the rest of your event and choose candy in those colors. You could also choose a nostalgic theme, but this theme could also be done along with a color theme as well.

Candy

Of course, the most important element of your candy buffet is the candy! When choosing candy to include, keep in mind types of candy that you like. Choose things that both look and taste good, and make it personal. Also remember to include different types of candy. For instance, don’t choose solely chocolate or solely gummy candies. Mix it up! Choose candies that look different as well. M&M;’s are great and come in a variety of colors, but also try rock candy or candy sticks so that there is a vast variety in your buffet.

If you can, find stores to buy your candy from. Shipping for candy can be expensive, especially during the warm summer months because the candy needs to be protected from melting. If you do need to resort to ordering candy online, though, try ohnuts.com or metrocandy.com.

Remember to buy enough candy not only to feed all of your guests, but also to fill your jars and look good. You don’t want to end up with half-empty jars or too much of one color and not enough of the others. You may also want to buy enough candy to refill your jars as people eat the candy so that the buffet looks beautiful throughout the entire night.

Jars

The jars to hold the candy are important in achieving a fantastic overall look as well. Choose different types and sizes of jars to give your candy buffet a lot of variety. Use apothecary jars, vases, and even glasses. Large margarita glasses make nice additions to candy buffets. You can find these vases on Craigslist or eBay if you are looking to keep things inexpensive. You can also get cute vases at Walmart and a variety of glasses at Dollar Tree.

The key here is to make sure your jars are all different sizes, shapes, and heights. If necessary, you can also put boxes under the tablecloth to give certain jars added height. This is necessary for visual interest.

Decorations

To spice up your candy buffet even further, you can decorate it! Place ribbons around each jar with a card attached telling guests what type of candy each jar contains. You can also cut out letters to arrange behind the table with a cute saying. One of my favorites is, “How sweet it is to be loved by you.” Another interesting idea is to create a poem to accompany your buffet to let guests know that they do not need an invitation to enjoy the candy in your buffet.

With these tips, you can make a beautiful candy buffet that is sure to be a hit with all of your guests!
