If you were ever a very petite women before you became pregnant you already know how hard it is to find maternity clothes that will fit your small and short body. I have found myself having the same problem lately. Most maternity clothes that are sold in department stores start at a size 4 and continue up from there. They consider a Small a size 4-6, which if you know anything about clothing sizes, a very petite woman will need a much smaller size.
I found myself searching store after store and even the Internet looking for maternity stores that sold smaller sizes or that considered a Small a 0 or even a size 2. Fortunately, I had a little luck. I finally found a few stores that sold cute and comfortable maternity clothes for small women like myself. A few of these stores are listed below.
Old Navy
www.oldnavy.com Old Navy, which can be found in multiple states across the country and also online, offers a wide variety of maternity clothes starting at a size XS, which is considered a pre-pregnancy size of a 0-2. They offer clothes ranging from skirts, to jeans, to working mother maternity clothes all starting in the XS size. This store also offers a wide variety of young mother maternity clothes with fun, hip colors, and great designs. I recommend shopping online at oldnavy.com rather than visiting your local store, however, because you’ll have a much better variety on their site.
Target

Target, which many people think of as another Wal-mart or a grocery store, actually offers a whole section of maternity clothes also starting in a size XS for the small and petite soon-to-be mothers. Their clothes range from active-wear like jeans and cute tees to working mother suits and sepertaes, to yoga and work out gear for mothers to be. Like Old Navy, they have a nice large section of hip and stylish clothes for the younger mother-to-be. Their maternity clothes are also very affordable and change often for new and exciting designs. Target also offers an Internet site where you can look at the maternity clothes and order them online while you are at home enjoying your free time on the ‘net.
Motherhood Maternity

If you’re willing to spend a little bit more, you might want to check out Motherhood Maternity. They have one of the largest selections of maternity clothes on the Internet and they cater to small women who need maternity clothes. From jackets to pant suits to casual wear to swimming suits, Motherhood Maternity has you covered (pardon the pun). And they sell gift cards so if you know a small pregnant woman who needs maternity clothes, you might want to consider a Motherhood Maternity gift card as a baby shower present.
The Gap

The Gap is a little more expensive (like Motherhood Maternity) but they do have a fashionable line of maternity clothes in small sizes. They aren’t quite as small as with Target and Old Navy, but I’ve always found that their clothes seem to fit better.
I have also seen some cute yet not as affordable maternity clothes on t the Pickles and Ice cream website, though they aren’t nearly as convenient as the other stores.
