Hispanic Fashion Clothing Designers You Should Know About

Bold Colors, Proenza Schouler

When it comes to designer labels there is a small group of individuals that knows of the designer, and an even smaller group that can actually afford the items. Lately though, there has been a trend in the fashion world that is bringing top end fashion clothing designers to a store near you, especially among Hispanic designers. I think we can all agree that this is a great move by both the designers and retailers.

Here are two Hispanic fashion clothing designers you should know about.

Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler designs are the creation of two men, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The Proenza Schouler label has only been around for five years, but in that time the luxury label has made a name for itself. The Spring 2007 Proenza Schouler runway show featured the labels characteristically modern designs. Tailored jackets and pencil skirts make up most of the collection, but every piece has a young and updated feel.

Recently, the label teamed up with Target to create a collection for the chain’s GO International line. Interestingly, many fans of the designer have criticized the new collection that was created for the Target GO International line for not staying true to the original runway collection. I have to disagree with that idea though, one of my favorite aspects of the label was the use of bold colors to make a statement with each outfit. The new Target collection draws heavily on that strength, bold colors, in each piece for a unique line that suits the Target demographic.

The playful silk bustiers and colorful dresses are sure to catch the eyes of several ladies and serve as an introduction to the designer.

Custo Barcelona

Custo Barcelona is an incredibly popular line of clothing that started out with graphic t-shirts designed by brothers Custo and David Dalmau. The bold and colorful graphic designs that are characteristic of the line are inspired by scenes of everyday life and the round-the-world trip the duo took. The collection has expanded to include denim and handbags as well as a complete line of casual apparel for both men and women.

The luxury label not only has a cult following in Barcelona, where the flagship store is located, but in Hollywood as well. Big name celebrities like Beyonce, Julia Roberts, Antonio Banderas, and Lance Bass are more than happy to slip into the original designs. And even though Custo Barcelona is known as a high level designer brand, many non celebrities are able to get there hands on several pieces of their own thanks to the growing number of stores that carry the brand.

Even if you are unable to visit one of the brands stores in the US or other international locale you can shop Custo Online. The current collection is always available on the labels website. Additionally, I have found that EBay is a great place to find vintage Custo Barcelona t-shirts and pieces from recent seasons, it really is the best place to start if you are on a budget. Of course, you need to remember that the online store and the various storefronts will not carry the same selection, each location has a few unique items.
