Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips Review

I love to bake desserts from scratch so I’m always on the lookout for good deals on baking supplies. While browsing through the clearance section of one of my local grocery stores, I discovered Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips. I have to admit that I was unsure what I would do with them, but the cost was low enough that I could always decide later on. I purchased a couple bags and it was one of the best new baking products I had ever tried. But, what made them so good? More importantly, how did I use them.

Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips come in 10 ounce bags and are just like small chocolate chips, only cinnamon flavored. The one difference I have noticed is that they don’t set back up after being baked. Instead they stay melted and add moistness to desserts. Best of all, they don’t have a fake flavor and taste just like ground cinnamon.

Now, I know you’re wondering how I used Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips. I’ll admit that for a while I was stumped and they sat on the shelf waiting to be used. Then I received a newsletter from Hershey’s that had a recipe for Cinnamon Sour Cream Cake. The recipe seemed easy enough and sounded delicious. I had no idea that it would turn out to be one of my favorite cake recipes. The Cinnamon Sour Cream Cake is incredibly moist and while it tastes good at room temperature, it is unbelievable when served warm. Honestly, I suggest scooting the pumpkin pie over just a bit on the Thanksgiving buffet to make room for this cake. It’s the perfect dessert for fall.

A serving of Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips is 1 tablespoon. That serving has 80 calories, 35 calories from fat, 4 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 45mg of sodium, 9 grams of carbs, 9 grams of sugar, 1 gram of protein, and 2% calcium. No, these are not healthy, but when it comes to a delicious dessert, who cares?

I would have to give Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips 5 out of 5 stars. This product may seem awkward to work with at first, but thanks to the Hershey’s website, you’ll find several wonderful recipes for this fantastic product. Not to mention that you could use this product in apple bread, pumpkin cake, oatmeal cookies, and as a topping for popcorn. The sky’s the limit. You just have to get creative. Give Hershey’s Cinnamon Chips a try. If you love cinnamon, you’re going to love this product.
