Hawaiian Laws – Top Five Silliest

Big Island of Hawaii, Molokai, Silly Laws

We can find humor in everything, even state laws. Every state has particular laws inherent to their state. Not all of them are they most brilliant pieces of legislation. Some are actually down right silly. And yes, there is humor in them. Here are the top five silliest laws from Hawaii with comments added.

Hawaii consists of eight main islands: Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island of Hawaii.

Keep in mind if it is a law, there was a reason or a need for it to be written.

Number 5
Billboards are outlawed. Rather smart if you ask me. They are legally controlling the view but what a view they have!

Number 4
In Hawaii it is illegal to get a tattoo behind your ear or on your eyelid unless in the presence of a registered physician. Like doctors have anything better to be doing! Let’s watch someone get a tattoo.

Number 3
It used to be the law in Hawaii that children had to obey all “lawful and moral” commands of their parents. But not anymore! Children don’t have to obey their parents and it’s legal. What a strange law to remove from the books. This is a first find in the realm of weird and strange state laws!

Number 2
Coins are not allowed to be placed in one’s ears. Ok it’s strange but if you consider the fact that they live in their bathing suits, they have to put their money somewhere!

Number 1
All residents may be fined as a result of not owning a boat. I can think of many men who have a good reason now for moving to Hawaii. I can hear it now, “Hey honey, I just found out, it’s against the law NOT to own a boat.”

A caveat for Hawaii: It was hard to find five silly laws, three were easy.
