Guide to Seasonal Weather in Naples, Florida

Naples, Naples Florida

Consistency. That’s what you’ll get from the weather in Naples. Whether you are a professional gambler, or just planning a week long getaway, you can bet on Florida boasting some of the most ideal weather conditions.

Naples, Florida is ideally located in Southwest Florida, right along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Because of it’s low latitude, southern Florida doesn’t experience much change in temperatures from season to season. Rather there is a greater difference in temperature from night and day, than July and January. Of course the warmest temperatures occur in the summer months, with highs topping out at right about 90 degrees. The proximity to the Gulf makes Naples perfect for enjoying days at the beach, whether your interests include scuba diving, boating, fishing, swimming, biking, snorkeling, or just getting that perfect tan. There are also numerous golf courses in the area to take advantage of (Guys- drop the wife and kids at the beach and hit the green all day!). The nights are absolutely perfect for enjoying fine dinning or shopping, with temperatures never going much below 70.

The summer months do have a draw back however. Seeing as it is such a warm climate, and the proximity to the Gulf provides unlimited moisture, there are frequent storms. But not to worry. While most of us are used to storms that last for days, Florida’s last for hours. Everyday starts off warm and sunny, and clouds build throughout the afternoon, giving way to thunderstorms. As the storms pass after a short while, the air gets cooler and the weather becomes calm, perfect for enjoying the evening! Since this will be the scenario of almost everyday, it is wise to plan outdoor activities around it.

Naples always has another interesting aspect of it’s climate that should paid attention to. I’m of course talking about hurricanes. These tropical monsters don’t pop up in a few hours, or dissipate as quickly. Rather these dangerous storms can affect an area for several days, and can bring such wide destruction that it would ruin more than just a vacation. The hurricane season runs from about August to November, so travelers should keep that in mind when planning a trip. The same Gulf that provides beautiful scenery as well as endless fun, also can act as a source of destruction. Luckily, there will be plenty of time to evacuate the area if a storm is approaching.

For most of us, we live in a location that experiences a winter; a very long, cold, dark, snowy winter. This time of the year can be quite depressing, so a trip to Naples is just what you need! With temperatures still well into the 70s even at New Years, Naples provides the perfect relief from ice storms and grey skies. Instead of shoveling your drive way, you can be golfing in shorts! Those same summer activities are still great to do because of the wonderfully consistent weather. And even better, there’s less monthly rainfall, and no risk of hurricanes ruining your trip (or hotel).

The natural beauty, rich culture, surplus of activities, and relaxing weather all combine to make Naples, Florida an excellent travel destination. To enhance the enjoyment of the trip, as well as to avoid dangerous situations, the best time to visit would be anytime from December to mid July.
