Gucci Handbags: How to Spot the Fakes

Gucci, Gucci Handbags

You’ve seen one of the arm of some of the most popular stars and you’ve seen them on the pages of some of the best designer magazines. Now you’ve finally decided to splurge and treat yourself to a Gucci handbag. But, how can you make sure that you’re getting the real deal?

Spotting a fake Gucci handbag isn’t always an easy task. As counterfeiters are honing their skills, some are replicating designer products that are very close to the real product. But, nothing is exactly like a Gucci and if you take the time to carefully inspect the bag, you’ll know when it’s not a real Gucci.

Tip #1
One of the most common details that can tell you whether a Gucci handbag is authentic or a fake is the logo. The letters should be all the same size and there should be the same amount of spacing each of the letters. Make sure that the “G” is a G and not a “C”.

Some fakes will actually have a logo that says, “Cucci” and it might not be noticeable unless you pay close attention. Fake Gucci handbags are also known to have fatter lettering and it may even look as if the dyes are fading or running together.

Tip #2
The colors of an authentic Gucci handbag should be vibrant and clear. Some counterfeit handbags will have colors that are pale, or that have a distressed look. This is especially noticeable for Gucci handbags that have a red and green lining.

Tip #3
The quality of the materials is another dead give away that the bag is a fake. Like any Italian handbag, Gucci handbags are only made with the highest quality fabrics, leather and hardware. If the material or the buckles, studs or zipper looks cheap, it’s most likely not a real Gucci.

Tip #4
Most counterfeit handbags will have inferior stitching. If the overall appearance of the bag looks generic and the stitches are loose or uneven, don’t buy the handbag. Gucci handbags will have neat stitching that is tight and even.

Tip #5
Somewhere on the handbag you should find the words “Gucci Made In Italy” embossed in gold. Some Gucci handbags might be embossed some where on the purse with “Gucci Parfums”. While it is generally on the handbags body, it is also sometimes found on the straps of the handbag.

Tip #6
Gucci satchel handbags are brown with a blue logo vinyl. The bag will be trimmed in leather that compliments the bags color. A twill racing strip will always be visible somewhere on the handbag. It will either go down the middle section of the bag and up the back, or be evident as ribbons at the end of each of the bags handles.

Tip #7
The Gucci Accessory Collection bags are brown and will feature a green and red stripe. And, the navy blue doctor bags that are a part of the G.A. Collection will feature a red and blue stripe. If the stripes are any other color, the handbag isn’t authentic.

Tip #8
The tags on a real Gucci handbag will be slightly curved at the bottom corners. If the handbag you’re considering purchasing has a tag that is completely square at the main bottom, it’s a counterfeit handbag and you’ll definitely want to pass it by.
