Green Works All Purpose Cleaner Review

Cleaning Solutions, Green Works, Lysol, Scrubbing Bubbles, Stainless Steel Sink

Even if you’re not an environmentalist, chances are you’ve thought twice about the household cleaning products you use. I myself am far from being a tree-hugging individual, but I’ve suffered nasal and gastric problems more than once on account of typical cleaning products. So we stopped using Comet, Scrubbing Bubbles, and Lysol cleaning solutions and reverted to a safer, even more effective product: Green Works.

Green Works offers a variety of different cleaning solutions; we use the all-purpose cleaner and the toilet bowl cleaner. Green Works is a creation of Clorox, but it doesn’t have any traces of bleach in it. It is completely biodegradable and is made with lemon oil, filtered water, and biodegradable preservative. Its main ingredient is a coconut-based cleaning material.

Here’s some of the reasons we love it so much more than the regular leading brands:

You can use it on multiple surfaces

We have granite countertops, and if you’re a granite countertop owner, you know how difficult it can be to clean granite without harming it. It’s a hard surface on the one hand, yet very porous on the other, so you can’t let any regular lemon juice (the lemon in Green Works doesn’t harm it), tomato juice, vinegar, oil, etc. onto the surface. But if you spill some, then what? Wipe it up with water? I don’t think so. We spray Green Works generously onto the spill (and the rest of the countertop), clean it up with a damp cloth, and buff it with a dry towel. We’ve found this works just about as well as most granite cleaners do.

You also don’t have to worry about using it on your stainless steel sink. We found the results are better when we’re using Green Works than Comet, as it’s non-abrasive.

It doesn’t make your nose fill up and sneeze

I don’t know about you, but as soon as I spray Comet or Lysol cleaner, I sneeze. The product tickles the inside of my nose, and I just can’t keep a sneeze back. With Green Works on the other hand, I rarely ever sneeze, and it smells much less intrusive than Comet or Lysol. In short, it doesn’t smell like a sterile hospital.

I don’t get a stomachache after I clean

I used to get mildly sick after I cleaned the house after using Lysol toilet bowl cleaner or Scrubbing Bubbles. But when I use Green Works, I don’t seem to get queasy. I’m not sure what it is; all I can do is attribute it to the fact that it’s a more natural product that my body doesn’t react to as badly.

We can clean our stovetop with it

Good-bye to the days of getting out the white, runny stovetop cleaner. Well, almost. When the stove is really bad and has burnt stuff around the edges, we still have to break out the ceramic cleaner. But for everyday cleaning, we can use Green Works on the stove. I wouldn’t have wanted to use Lysol or Comet on it, but I feel safe using Green Works because it is not as toxic.

Green Works is a little more costly than Clorox or Lysol, but it’s worth every cent. I will never go back to using Comet or Lysol for a regular household cleaner if I can avoid it.
