Gor 101 – The Slave Silks

The Gor books have long been a secret passion of mine. I have also had the privilege of being part of a Gorean chat room online for a while. I love the poetic language used and the honor and respect shown in these rooms. When I first entered the chat rooms though, I was really confused by all the new terms, as I had not read all the books by then. I was especially confused by the colors of silks worn by slave girls in the room. I knew they all had a meaning and did not want to embarrass myself by using the wrong color while chatting. In order to spare you the process of elimination, this article is all about the slave silks.

Slave silks, in the first place, do not swirl or “float”. They are not long enough or wide enough. Picture tying a wide scarf around your body that opens on the side with a knot – this is generally the size of slave silks. The aim of these silks was to entice and to protect as well as to classify slave girls. When you kneel in nadu the silks will not hide anything as well, so remember that when you are chatting.

There are four basic colors. The first is white silks. This girl is a virgin, a girl who has never been used by a man. White silk slave girls never remained white silk for long, but sometimes a Master would pay a lot for the pleasure of deflowering a white silk girl. White silk could also indicate that a girl is in training (as the girls in taverns were before they were considered adept at the various forms of dancing). The deflowering of a white silk girl in a tavern would often be bid upon after her first dance. A white silk girl was also fitted with a chastity belt many times to make sure no one could use her. White silk is also used in chat rooms to indicate that a girl cannot be used or punished by anyone other than the Master or Tavern who owns her.

Yellow silks are a contentious issue. Some maintain that this color was not used in the books, but I distinctly remember the use of yellow silks in taverns. I also remember that yellow silk girls could be used as part of the price that a client paid for his paga. The yellow silks are also mentioned in a few dances through out the book. I would say that it is safe to use this color when you are chatting online.

Red silk girls were almost always the most sought after girls. Red silk girls were generally well versed in dance, serves and were almost always fully trained. They had also been used sexually. There are cases where red silk girls only denoted that a girl was no longer virgin, even when her slave’s belly had not yet been awakened. These girls also fetched the best prices in the slave markets. They are also known as pleasure slaves, there for the use of any Master at any time and in any place. Girls from earth could be pleasure slaves too and often proved to be exceptional.

Black silk girls were also known as passion slaves. They were often bred this way and would often be kept away from men until they were ready to be deflowered. Girls from earth could never be considered passion slaves. These slaves were also used for sexual pleasure, but were well versed in dance as well.

Of course there are other colors in the chat rooms, but any other color would only be because a Master likes that color. The other colors do not appear in the books at all.
