I do lots of crafts that I sell to specialty stores. One of the best products I’ve found is Amazing Goop (the “Amazing” part is actually above the product name on the packaging). I’ve been using it for years. Goop is made by Eclectic Products, Inc. an American-based manufacturer of adhesives, wood fillers and various do-it-yourself products for home and commercial use. Founded in 1972 to market Shoe GOO®, remember Shoe Goo, a rubber compound that when applied to the soles of shoes doubled their life. The company also makes wood filler, nail hole fillers, craft adhesives, seal all and E6000.All extremely good , reliable products
Years and years ago there was Super glue but I’m one of those “runs with scissors” people and I was terribly dangerous with that stuff. I accidentally glued all sort of things together I had no intention of gluing – mostly my fingers. Hubby found me Goop, and I’ve been using it ever since with no problems, no injuries, nothing getting stuck to anything I don’t want it stuck to..
Goop is a contact adhesive and sealant. It bonds and seals.It glues whatever bonds you to create, forever. It will do ABS,PVC,Brass, Copper, Aluminum and Ceramic. I make bird feeders using ceramics and piping. This product was perfect for my needs. It dries clear and is waterproof so my bird feeders are safe in the elements. It’s paintable which is a plus if you need to match the bond to anything.
To use Goop your surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt. Make sure you use Goop in a well ventilated area and aAlways test a small area first. Do not use it for hot tubs because warm water with chemicals weakens the bond. Apply Goop to each surface to be bonded. Allow it to sit 2-10 minutes to cure. Allow your bond to set for 24 – 72 hours.
Make sure your tube threads are well cleaned otherwise your cap will seal to the tube and you’ll have a lot of wasted product. You can clean the threads with naptha or acetone. Store at room temperature with cap tightened. I have unfortunately had to learn this the hard way.
Goop is not recommended for polysterene, polyethylene or polypropylene plastaics and it cannot be used on Styrofoam or paper.
Amazing Goop can be used as an excellent water resistant sealant and is water resistant immediately on application. You can use it in 50- to 90-degree temperatures, and it will withstand 40 to 150 degrees fahrenheit.
Do not use Goop on any objects that are meant for animals, food or drinking water. The area I apply the glue on for my bird feeders is below the water container element that the birds eat or drink out of so it doesn’t pose a problem for me..
Goop can be used for sealing pipes, gutters, and porcelain fixtures and is stronger than silicone on PVC or garden hoses. It won’t break or crack under pressure.
So now if you’re considering crafts look in the plumbing department not just the craft stores. Also, don’t throw out your old china you can make some very cute garden decorations with cups, saucers, forks and spoons and a little imagination.
